THE ORVILLE S2, E8: "IDENTITY, PART I"

I think she's in on Issac's double cross.

Someone has to know that he has already turned on his people, so that they can verify later on that he's not just going with the flow like a flip flopper.

Seriously, they probably all do look alike. Unless there's a lime or orange flavored one of whatever Yaphit is.
Flavoured?

You want to eat Yaphit?

My enthusiasm is tempered somewhat by the likelihood of a big red reset button next week. And I don't see how you plausibly do even a partial reset on this.

Here's what I think could happen. The crew will find out that Isaac's personality was changed when he was rebooted. They reset him back to "nice Isaac" and he betrays the Kaylon and helps save the ship.

I mean I know WHY they did things (to push the plot forward) but there's a LOT that just makes no sense to me about this set up.........1) The whole ship landing instead of a shuttle 2) leaving millions of bodies instead of vaporizing them. 3) Nobody noticing a kid leaving the ship, on either side. 4) Allowing the kid to access the millions of dead bodies with no check points 5) Orville crew not contacting local authorities to alert them a child was missing on their world and just going to snoop around, while in diplomatic negotiations........there are more and like I said, I know WHY they did it...........but it is just a bit far fetched. I hope they do not have a big reset button next week, and this is a lasting thing, but I can almost see it coming.........

I don't know. If Bortus couldn't "process" a piece of Yaphit, no one can.

This was written by Braga and Bormanis? There's your answer for plot holes and stupid scenes. I'm surprised there wasn't time travel.

Honestly Braga being involved here kinda scares me. Not a single two-parter he was involved with had a second act as good as the first.

Of course, I'd argue that (DS9 excepted) Chain of Command is the only Trek two-parter that didn't have a deflated ending.

Why is Issac's the only one with blue/whiteish eyes???

I suspect that the Kaylons changed his eyes to blue to make him appear more friendly and less threatening as part of his mission to collect data when he was sent to the Orville. The Kaylons probably also altered his personality somewhat to make him friendlier, A) to hide their true intentions and B) to make it easier for him to do his mission. In essence, it was part of his cover. I think there was even a little hint about this in this episode where they mentioned that the red eyes make them look very threatening or something to that effect. When the Kaylons reboot Isaac they keep his eyes blue so as not to betray the fact that they changed his personality back to "evil kaylon". Issac did seem a bit out of character after the reboot. Before, he had a huge superiority complex, sure, but he was still somewhat agreable with the crew. He was nice to Claire's kids and acted like he wanted a real relationship with Claire. After the reboot, he throws away the picture and acts like a total jerk. Now, maybe it was all an act before. Or maybe his deep cover personality actually became real. My theory is that this will play a role in next week's episode. The crew, maybe Claire, will realize that Isaac is not acting like he used to and will realize that the Kaylons altered his personality. The crew will find a way to alter his personality back to the way it was, and Isaac will help them defeat the other Kaylons. Ultimately, I think the eye color is meant as a quick visual hint to the audience. Red eye Kaylons are evil, blue eye kaylons are good. It would be interesting to see if we meet any other blue eye Kaylons who don't agree with the "exterminate all biologicals" directive.

That seems likely.

I'll allow it, but only if one character turns to another at some point and says"Holy crap, they pressed Isaac's reset button!"

Seriously, going to the trouble of showing the repair operation is a bit of foreshadowing, isn't it? Probably not done just for the sake of a cool robot effects shot. And most of Isaac's most hurtfully detached behavior in the show occurs after his reactivation.

Isaac has blue eyes so that the audience can always pick him out in the crowd.

How would they know? Also, with over 300 members in the union, the color red may not be seen as harsh, evil and threatening to a bunch of members....
