Things that frustrate us all

Wieners and Frankfurters are the very same sausages, only in Wien they are called Frankfurters and in Frankfurt they are named Wieners :D
Both can be used in hot dogs but the American hot dog sausages as well as the varieties in tins and glass jars have a much softer skin (if any at all). The filling, however, is pretty much the same.

I didn’t know this.

I’m always reminded of 2010 when I have hot dogs, the scene on the Leonov where Floyd is reminiscing the hot dogs at a baseball game, at the end of the season.

Hot dogs are best in the open air, with mustard, ketchup and fried onions. Always wanted to try an Albuquerque Isotopes Hotdog. I found a recipe on line but couldn’t get all the ingredients over here.

I've never yet eaten an American hotdog. We have a damned good Bavarian variety, though: a Bratwurstsemmel - a rye roll with 2-3 fried pork sausages, sauerkraut and sweet mustard. There is a restaurant in Ratisbone, founded 350 years before America was discovered, that started out with all sorts of food but has been particularly famous for this sort of snack ever since 1378. When I was a student at the uni there, 30 years ago, the cook would glance at us and ask "students?" and when we confirmed, she'd always pack 3 sausages more than usual into the roll. :adore:

Due to a fortuitously-timed trade, my shipment of official TWOK rank pins was supposed to be here today. As of 8:04 am, it was in Shawnee, KS. I'm a few states away.

Sinus problems. I woke up about 3:30 am--two hours after I went to bed--with excruciating pain in my face and head. My sinuses were so inflamed that the pressure was unbearable. I can breathe just fine--I'm not congested--so perhaps it's just the lining that's irritated. It hurt so much I almost threw up. I tried rinsing my sinuses out with a neti pot, put hot compresses on my face, Tylenol sinus--nothing worked. I went downstairs and sat on the couch until I fell asleep again. Even in sleep, I was dreaming about how much my head hurt. Hubby woke me up a few hours later. I have neck problems so sitting up in bed is hard for me. UGH. I need to go the store--maybe I'll hit the pharmacy to see if they have anything that might help.

I remember years ago when Hickory Farms had stores in malls, the one in my area sold ready-to-eat cheese-infused sausages on buns, including Johnsonville brand "Beddar with Cheddar" as well as "Swiss Wurst" (I can't tell if that one is currently available). I always thought that if they were trying to make a pun with those, the second one might turn people away from the product.
