Things that frustrate us all

When they owe you money they're slow but if you owe them, you'd better be quick or they make you pay interests, at least that's how it works in France, IE here.

Yeah, that rings a bell. In one case, we paid them in time, but they misallocated the funds and kept demanding we pay them (with interest). We'd sent the proof of payment several times showing all the description, but still said they hadn't received it. They sent us several fines, but eventually found out where they had put the receipt. That was mildly annoying.

That's Kafkaian in its absurdity.

Read that people were actually calling in to 911 to complain that Thursday's Amber Alert disturbed them or woke them up when it came in on their cell phones.

They were attempting to save an 11 year old girl. Get some perspective, people.

When it looks like people are being deliberately obtuse. It really takes an effort to contain myself and pretend that there's nothing wrong about their lack of comprehension. I've been doing that for years and I still find it trying.

My phone doesn't seem to receive all the alerts I hear about. Are they regional?

I think you’ve mentioned that you’re American? I don’t really know how your system works, sorry.

For us, yes, alerts can be issued regionally, but I *think* Amber Alerts are issued province-wide (could be wrong, though). This particular one originated in Peel Region, and I received it, but live nowhere near there.

When you're waiting in line (a long line!) and someone seems to take forever to ask what they want, even mixing small talk with the requests per se!!!

Where I am, a lot has melted, but oh my gosh, no more! I was just lucky this past week was midwinter break! No additional snow days to make up!

I love Seattle - it's one of my favorite cities - but I've seen how steep the hills are. Must be a kick in the teeth to try and navigate that during the winter...
