Does anyone know for certain whether or not she had an uncredited bit part in Season 1, before being cast as May Ahearn in Season 2 ?

I received my Season 1 dvd set (awesome deal, $16.50 brand-new, shipping included) and I watched it all in the past couple of days. The first time I watched Season 1 was on a small cell phone screen. I watched the dvd set on my laptop. After having seen Bahia Watson in the new season, a person in an agony booth in the first season caught my eye.

Even if it wasn't intended at the time, that would be a good story element....what happened to May in the mirror universe?

I really hope they re-visit the mirror universe at some point. There is plenty of good material to mine, if done right. I was skeptical when they went there so soon, but ended up being pleased with the largest percentage of what they've done with it so far.

I agree. I actually found the Mirror universe as depicted in Disco to be a pretty unsettling and intimidating place. Definitely a massive improvement over the mirror universe depicted in DS9, which i just found campy and slightly arousing.

    Only slightly arousing??
What's wrong with you, Intendant Kira was a wet-dream come true.

Rewatching the scene in ”Despite Yourself“ I‘m not convinced it‘s the same actress. The forehead is different, for one thing.

Edit: A comparison of hands and fingers also suggests that it's likely Bahia.

It's frustrating that folks with bit parts are left uncredited....

As an aside, did anyone catch that the actress who played the leader of the group in New Eden is the same actress who played the reporter, Samantha Coleman, in Die Hard II ?

I contacted the agency that represents Bahia and they told me that she was NOT the person who was in the agony booth.

Interestingly, the agency that represents her is based in Toronto.

the actress needs to step forward. she's got a long future con career signing agony booth photos for $5 and explaining that she's not actually Bahia Watson, then putting on a hat and sunglasses and running over to the Bahia Watson autograph table and signing some May photos.

Agreed. The DS9 stuff, while fun, was fundamentally the actors enjoying being "evil" for a day. There's a sense of enjoyment to, say, Sisko punching Bashir, but it's Avery Brookes' enjoyment, not that of his character.

With the DSC mirror universe episodes, on the other hand, it felt like the characters were enjoying the torture, murder, and what have you. It really came across as a place where suffering was relished and people enjoyed hurting each other. Pretty disturbing stuff.

That‘s why I can‘t stand the MU as depicted in Discovery and Enterprise in a nutshell. The annual Deep Space Nine excursions to the MU tended to be tongue-in-cheek farces giving the actors the opportunity to have a little fun with their established characters. Discovery on the other hand took the concept very seriously, which revealed what a disturbing place it actually is.

In fairness, it was pretty serious in TOS too.

I've never seen the DS9 MU episodes....haven't seen a large percentage of DS9 or Voyager, for that matter.

So, thanks for the warning. If I ever get around to watching the DS9 MU, I guess I will have to chalk it up to being a sort of campy spin on the MU and leave it at that.

I am sure Avery Brooks also enjoyed his character kissing mirror Kira and mirror Dax.

On the last DS9 mirror episode, Michael Dorn and Andrew Robinson seemed to have a lot of fun hamming it up playing their mirror characters.
