Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

Even though I'm not a big fan of Micheal, I really hate how they've decided this season to completely and totally undercut her character to make her the exposition-fairy for Spock. I mean, she's being upstaged by a character who hasn't even been seen yet.

Spock has appeared in 82 television episodes and 9 major motion pictures.

He is easily the most popular character in the franchise, and one of the most popular fictional characters ever created. I don't think there's any shame in being upstaged.

Got myself a growing Michelle Yeoh movie list:

Tomorrow Never Dies
Royal Warriors
Crouching Tiger

Must add to it. No IMDB or looking up. That's cheating.

The new Crazy asians movie
First 2 episodes of Discovery are kind of like a movie.

there is a sequel to Crouching Tiger on netflix. I think its called Sword of Destiny. Michelle Yeoh stars. It's not as good as the original but she's awesome as always.

What sucks is that the Bond producers were seriously considering a spinoff series of movies featuring her character from Tomorrow Never Dies. I really would have liked that.

IMDB now has the blurb for episode 4 An Obol For Charon:

A mysterious sphere threatens the U.S.S. Discovery even as May, in her original form, implements a plan that puts Tilly's life in danger. Saru and Burnham's bond grows when Saru is forced to acknowledge a deeply unsettling Kelpien truth. Pike receives new intel on Spock from a loyal friend.

Are Kelpiens engineered to die when they reach a certain age???

Are there any sites out there posting screenshots from STDisco episodes? I haven't found any. There are a plethora of screenshots from all the other Trek series all over the place, but not from the new one!

Give it time.

The Picard Series is supposed to start filming in April. Coincidentally, that's the same month DSC S2 ends. I bet during April, the title of the series will be announced.

80 episodes of TOS, 22 episodes of TAS, two episodes of TNG, and one episode (so far) of Discovery. Dialogue and live-action footage was reused in one episode of DS9 and one episode of Discovery.

That's 105 episodes, or 107 if you include the archive footage. Plus the 9 films (114 or 116 total). Still dwarfed by Worf (270 or 276, plus 1 episode of Webster) and many other cast members on the longer running TNG, DS9, and Voyager series.

Holy Crap. 21 years and it finally just occurred to me right now. At the spur of the moment. You know how in the '90s, Area 51 stories were big? An Area's a Section. Change 51 to 31, and you've got Section 31. That's how the DS9 writers came up with the name!

In the Brightest Star did they elaborate on how the sacrifices are picked? I mean I recall that the obelisk thing lit up and started humming which seemed uncomfortable for the Kelpians until the sacrifice was made. But who chose the Chosen? What if they are genetically engineered to present a sign when it's their time? Saru asked his father questions which implied he could be 'called' before him. It doesn't seem a matter of age.

So what if he manifests this sign? That he's been Chosen? Or maybe time spent too long away from the Kelpian planet triggers some kind of terminal illness - a way for the Baul to further control their prey.
