What Has Discovery Added To Star Trek Lore?

Once again, you jest...but the reality is that there are people who would welcome this, combined with extensive background and genetic testing.
Yeah, I'm only halfway joking because I know that there are several who would want this. It smacks of the "true Trek" talk that flies around, which cannot be defined.

This is why I cannot take such comments seriously.

Yeah it's a pretty disappointing series. Never thought I would even think it but I may have to actually boycott this series

Well, that could be a blessing in disguise, as that would actually give you a reason not to post here and be all despondent over the things you don't care for.
:nyah:

This is a silly argument. Just because holograms were not featured heavily in TOS doesn't mean they couldn't have existed in the 23rd century, rather it's simply because a 1960s TV show was not able to depict such a thing at the time.

That's fair.

Unfortunately, let's get beyond the veneer and dig into the bigger issues being bandied about: I'm just hoping the season 2 extravaganza deals with nutter Spock escaping the nuthouse and killing three of his doctors. There must be a really great reason that ties up loose ends and explains how Spock would end up on the Federation Flagship (on top of everything else), otherwise any number of youtube complainers will win the day on the argument of whatever it is they're arguing about. Or the less-often talked issue of why no prequel of any series anywhere has yet to do anything fantastic. I'll give STD credit, they're taking a different turn of events. But I was never a fan of Enterprise, Star Wars 1-3 with all the plot holes, Rogue One with its contrivances, young boy Davros in an audio Doctor Who escapade, or even the Muppet Babies.

Which is easier said then done. Especially in a prequel series. Especially in a prequel, regardless if it's showing an active arc or not. Never mind this 25% contract thing, which helps explain those lopsided joke costume party uniform things. If it's true they had to do a lot of reshoots, either the plots are badly scripted (like Spock becoming a nutcase and killin' all his doctors and a rewrite was desired) or the actors were corpsing waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.

The Enterprise in TOS is not the Flagship of the Federation, or any flagship. I do not believe the TOS Enterprise is ever called a flagship at all, and that honorific is saved for TNG and the Enterprise D.

As for Spock, i will wait and see how the season unpacks (and really the series) before I declare it a poor fit of continuity.

Uh, have you watched Star Trek? Spock has attempted to kill his Captain on at least two occasions, committed mutiny twice, forged orders, hijacked a starship and kidnapped a superior officer. And he's still an officer in good standing and the best First Officer in the fleet.

I want to say that Picard referred to the Ent-E as the flagship as well in one of the movies, but I'm not 100% sure.

I have a feeling Spock will turn out to be neither a nutter (at least not a major one) nor a murderer, which is why there will be no problem with him ending up on the Enterprise.

Right...because we never saw that in Trek before...

Wait...that's in TOS era. And it was "so real," Captain Picard, that it nearly killed people. :vulcan:

It was canon right until GR didn't want to be so that his enlightened crew can carry on and on about how fantastic their technology is :shifty:

Good writers are able to write great stuff without treating canon like it's a disease. Then again, Alex Kurtzman is making neither canon or story a priority, so I guess he should read your post
No, Spock is a murderer, What other explanation could there be?????
To be fair, even if father is a murderer by Spock's OWN ADMISSION:
TOS S2 - "Journey To Babel"

KIRK: You're saying he couldn't have done it?

SPOCK: No, Captain. I'm merely saying it would be illogical to kill without reason.

KIRK: But if he had a reason, could he have done it?

SPOCK: If there were a reason, my father is quite capable of killing. Logically and efficiently.
^^^
So, like father, like son? ;)

The "If there were a reason..." was likely a "big IF".

I don't think Spock was admitting anything; rather he was just building a logical argument, and then pointing out Sarek has the physical capacity. :vulcan:
He says" "...my father is quite capable of killing..."<--- And very matter of fact-ly too; meaning either Spock has seen Sarek do so, or is aware of instances where Sarek did do so (obviously with good reason, or I assume he'd be in a prison on Vulcan somewhere.) ;)
