Neither you nor I get to identify what is rational. As I wrote earlier, it all come down to how accurate Midnight ends up being.

And the quality of your sources would depend on how accurate they turn out to be.
If Midnight has a good accuracy rate, then their sources are good. Simple as that.
Look at what they said in the past, and compare that to what turns out to be true.
If it isn't 100%, that doesn't mean what is accurate somehow then isn't.
If Midnight is completely wrong in everything they say, then that is that.
Given how past "scoops" from their sources turned out to be false, I'd say they have pretty bad sources... or they're just making things up to give their viewers what they wanna hear, like claiming Bad Robot is secretly behind DISCOVERY, because they know their audience hates Kelvin films.
They know their audience and cater to them by giving them exactly what they want. Discovery is failing. Ghostbusters 16 bombed because the cast was female, therefore diversity doesn’t work. JJ is behind it all. Amy Pascal is the devil and responsible for all bad aka “female led” movies.
