Last episode was actually good, not fantastic, the concept had been done better in other Trek shows, but it was the first time in Discovery there was actual real exploration of a moral/high sci-fi concept and felt legitimately like a great episode.
This episode may be one of the worst episodes of Discovery yet, just atrociously terrible writing across the board, just non-stop clunky exposition, terrible pacing, plot all over the place, writers still don't fucking get S31 at all. (Jesus the Klingons know about it now? Not even most at the top of the federation know about it ffs).
So much of the writing in this episode just seemed in service to push the plot forward, for example, Tilly's reaction to ghost girl is so stupid it's painful and they just randomly pull ghost girl out because oh boy have to have mystery for the rest of the season instead of Tilly just going "What do you even want?".
Seriously, it's just fact this point all the best episodes of Discovery are it's episodic ones, this show just does not work at all as a serialised show and this episode shows why, just clunky, all over the place, poorly written messes designed to be "mysterious". It's clearly JJ Nu-Trek because this show's writing influence is clearly Lost.
