Ethan Peck cast as DSC's Spock

Real Spock is perplexed.

No Spock is more real than the other. Stop with that non-sense

Let's not play that game. Nimoy is the quintessential Spock. I'm good with other interpretations if they are reboots of the character. On Discovery though, which is supposedly Prime, Peck should be the Nimoy Spock.

Wish they did prosthetics on his face to look like Nimoy, instead of the stupid beard to hide his face.

Anson was pitch perfect casting as the Hunter Pike, but they did Spock wrong, at least visually.

How do you feel about Saavik?

Sorry, this is one of those things that does not track for me. Nimoy invented the character and none will be equal to him. But, to state that others cannot come along and carry the Spock character forward in the Prime Universe is severely limiting, at best, and disrespecting the craft that Nimoy worked so hard in at worst.

Really liked the glimpses of Spock in the season trailer. Peck's voice just sounds right to me, so hopefully that bodes well.

Can we please cut it out with the "gatekeeping" when it comes to Spock's character?

It's not only had optics, it's annoying besides.

Well then Discovery is a reboot. Which it basically is. Even if you have to consider it a 'new' Prime Timeline.

Who's Saavik? J/k. Nimoy's Spock is an American icon.

Other actors can come along and do new things with the character in disconnected reboots, but if this show is truly a Prime Timeline series...this should be Nimoy's Spock. That goes without saying.

Another actor could play Nimoy's Spock, but Peck...(at least visually thus far) does not resemble him in the slightest... and it seems like production knows this. Hence the beard.

A different actor does not mean a different universe. What very narrow and ignorant/arrogant view that is.

Anyone can play Prime Spock. And the beard means nothing.

I do not agree. The actor, as much as they are apart of bringing a character to life, can change and still continue on with the same character.

Also, rather presumptuous about the beard.

Anyone can play Spock he’s just a character.

Well if you can accept Discovery as the visual reboot it is, you can easily accept this visually rebooted Spock.

Personally, I don't care if you think it's narrow-minded, but for Prime Spock.. Nimoy is the only interpretation to go with for me. Another actor could play it, but he needs to look like Nimoy and be a believable version of Nimoy's Spock. Spock's look is damn iconic.

Like I said, they struck gold with Anson as Pike, looking so much like Jeff Hunter. Jury's still out on Speck, but him looking like a half-assed Ashton Kutcher, instead of young Nimoy is jarring. Hence the beard to cover his face.

Nope, and I bet you it will be shaved off before the end of the season.

Why do you think they added the beard to begin with? So that the visual of him as Spock wouldn't be as jarring. Especially after Quinto, who resembled Nimoy quite a bit.

This guy will just look like a dudebro in Spock cosplay. Unless face prosthetics are involved.

They already said it was for story reasons, so yes, you will see.

Again, I take these supposed producer statements with a grain of salt. You're never going to hear the complete truth from them behind any decisions on this show. Let's let the Speck portrayal speak for itself once he arrives on STD.

I have no reason not to trust them.
They haven’t mislead me yet.
