Spider-Man: Far From Home anticipation thread

IGN says it's The Elementals and Hydro Man.
Love the trailer, looks like a lot of fun. I like that they seem to have the fishbowl as something Mysterio just wears when he's in a fight, that seems like a good way to have show his face, but still keep the fishbowl.
The stuff with May at the beginning looks pretty fun.
I love the last scene, that seems about how things usually go for poor Peter.
I'm a huge Spidey fan, I loved Homecoming, this looks like it'll be at least as good if not better.

Watched the trailer twice already. Looks like a lot of fun.

So, is that Hydro-Man?

It looks like they've combined the Elementals with Classic Spidey villains who have element related powers (Hydro-Man, Molten-Man, Sandman).

Well, the MCU Spider-Man is officially worse then the Garfield one. I guess the offscreen MCU Uncle Ben never gave him the speech about power and responsibility, since no other version of Spider-Man would have left their fucking costume at home with the intention of just not helping people for (presumably) weeks. The actual Spider-Man would take his fucking costume to his honeymoon, a funeral, hell he'd be wearing it under his clothes if he was in a hospital waiting room waiting for his wife to give birth, just in case. Outside of the one storyline where he tries to give up his responsibility but realizes he can't (which was used well in Spider-Man 2), Spidey doesn't go "Eh, fuck the suit, no one in Europe could possibly need my help".

At best its extreme stupidity/naivete, at worst its Peter being a giant piece of shit. This is why "realistic" teen heroes are even worse then DC's attempts at "realistic" heroes, because most teenagers are selfish assholes and that's not a particularly compelling type of character for a superhero movie. This isn't even in character for this version of Spider-Man. He was so into helping people, he jumped onto a spaceship and went into space. That is not someone who is going to leave their costume at home under any circumstances, even if they don't intend to do active superhero things.

Anyway, Nick Fury was the only good part of that trailer. Mysterio looks like an asshole, and you just know he's going to have to show his face at literally every point where he's not in a CG fight. But, I guess you can't hide the face of the star of such great films as Banging Heath Ledger and The White Prince of Persia, that would just be a tragedy. We also get some scenes showing why I absolutely loathe almost all of Marvels attempts (both in live action and in other media) at doing teen heroes. Even when Peter himself isn't shit, he is surrounded with literally nothing but cliched teen shitheads. That scene near the end with all his classmates made me feel like I was watching the fucking Shazam trailer, and reminding me of the worst superhero film ever conceived is not a good thing.
I bet you're fun at parties. :techman:

I wasn't all that enthused about Spider-Man Homecoming for a number of reasons (most of them stemming from "MCU fatigue" and my dissatisfaction with Peter's role in Captain America: Civil War), but I'm not going to lie: the trailer for Far From Home looks pretty good and is very reminiscent, tonally, to the trailers for the Raimi and Amazing Spider-Man films, which makes me happy.

You're the worst person in the world.

I feel like Infinity War broke me. It's almost impossible to get excited for these smaller standalone adventures now. Saving Europe? Who cares, when half the universe just got saved.

By that logic, DSC should've blown the entire MCU out of the water.

Still doesn’t feel like Spidey to me. Needs more Mary Jane.

This is young spidey, so he needs to be dating Betty Brant or Gwen Stacy (who the MCU can't touch, because Sony's previous effort ruined that whole arc)

Depends on the version. This is more like the Ultimate version, especially with the Sam Jackson Fury.
