Favorite 'Little' Moments...

So instead they'll be slaves to primitives methods of growing crops. They'll work ten hours a day just to feed themselves and die of simple diseases (It'll take thousands of years to acquire a medicine to speak of) at a young age.

Yeah, that's an improvement all right...

Besides we're all slaves to machines and happy to be so.

Who among us would want to return a life without electricity or machines of any kind?

I doubt you'll find many of these.
As McCoy pointed out, there was complete stagnation of that society for thoysands of years. How is that healthy for any society?

And just because it took humans thousands of years to get to a certain level with technology, medicibe, etc., doesn't mean it will take tgem that long.

It is completely arrogant to think that humans should be the barometer of advancement. There are examples of species smarter than us, Vulcans being the obvious example.

And besides, we don't know for sure that those aging effects will happen suddenly. It may take decades or centuries for them to even start aging, since their bodies are already used to being that old. Sort of like how long life was a natural thing for the people on "THE OMEGA GLORY".

Not to mention the fact that Vaal didn't keep them alive, it kept them young. They still had to gather and/or grow food, store it, prepare it, and make sure the results at every stage were replicable. Remember, they didn't feed Vaal fruit and vegetables, they fed Vaal exploding rocks. Those had to be gathered too. Their days were already filled with hard work, just now it's almost exclusively for their own survival, and can be adapted to improve their lot in their world.

Trillions actually. He was off by a factor of millions.
“Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.”

― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Sorry, what? Turn on your primitive Earth captions! :D

:D Thanks . . . so . . . Much . . . !

But you're wrong about Jodie W. She's fantastic. After how dour everyone (besides Tennant and Colman) was on Broadchurch, I wasn't sure she could do the lighthearted nature of The Doctor, but she sure can!

No thanks mate! I'm not a fan of the gender swapping Time Lords and it was never in the original series!

Has anyone mentioned the short scene where Siko contemplates the burnt peppers (by the cooking dummy Kasidy) that it took him months to grow?

Well we only saw about 20 people. Surely not genetically diverse enough to start a new civilisation.
They'd have to be incorporated into the Federation somehow.

Ah. Well, your loss, JB. :) You let me know if you ever watch any of the eps from this past season. Try "Demons of the Punjab" in particular.

From "THE CHANGELING"...

Spock: That unit is a woman.
Nomad: A mass of conflicting impulses.

One of the most true lines of dialogue in the franchise.

Perhaps the second most sexist line in the franchise.

You know there were a lot of men in TOS who seemed to act on conflicting impulses - the guy who was interested in Miranda and went insane,M5 dude, Bailey, Commodore Decker ....

Decker lost his entire crew so he gets a pass! Kirk too was the survivor of a similar incident and also went nuts to get some revenge, but his took eleven years to fulfil!

This Side Of Paradise is full of them. From Leila and Spock’s effective relationship, to the Uhura cutting the communications in her dainty voice, Kirk’s insults towards Spock (mushroom talk!), and McCoy insulting Sandoval. What a great episode.
