After the battle was over, there was a huge feast of crab legs.
I gave it a C because it wasn't that great.
The movie was a mish-mash of every other super hero\action\fantasy movie to come out in the last 15 years. It was like DC was so invested that this be a hit that they used every trope possible. I saw things that reminded me of The Matrix, Star Wars , all the Marvel stuff, even LOTR.
I like Jason. Liked him on Stargate and GOT. But I don't think he is a good enough actor to carry a movie by himself. His scenes and dialog were all very quick and quippy. But he looked like Brando next to Amber Herd. She was just awful.
This is just my opinion and if you enjoyed the movie, great. But when you get past all of the fights and explosions it's a mediocre movie.

I give the film a B--another solid addition to the still young DCEU. The film shattered decades-long doubts surrounding Aquaman ever being adapted to film. Of course, that already happened to a degree in Justice League, but that was not a full-on film centered on the character.
The same can and has been said about the first Thor and Black Panther essentially using the same templates of faraway kingdom, hero challenged by someone close to, or related to him, etc.

I don’t disagree with you about the film but “still young DCEU”? This is the 6th film in a five and half year period. That’s twice the number that we got of Star Wars films over a comparable period between 1977 and 1983. Or going by MCU movies, it’s as many movies as they made between Iron Man (2008) and the Avengers (2012), but over a slightly longer period of time.
His name goes back to the 1940s, most things from that era feel cheesy today. I don't really see it as being any different from names like Superman or the Flash in that regard.
Water-Head, Surfer-Dude, Fish-Talker, Ultra-Hydrated Man, etc., etc. ...

I quite enjoyed this motion picture, despite all the cheesy plastic "Power Ranger" armor.

I spent the first third of the movie thinking it was pretty silly, even for a superhero film, but I gradually gave in to the batshitness of it all and ended up quite enjoying it.
I gave it a 'B'.
Edit : it's just occurred to me that Aquaman did something very similar to Spiderverse - deliberately and enthusiastically adopting comic book sensibilities. Spiderverse did this knowingly and with a very obvious nod and a wink.
Aquaman would have been faced with full adoption of the bizarre nature of the original source material or going with a more pseudo sensible approach playing down the fantastic creatures, sharkriding and general lunacy.
Live action Marvel would perhaps have gone for the second option (let's wait for the Namor movie). DC went full on and did it with a straight face.
It was a choice, and more power to them for it.

That is still young in any planned series with no end in sight. The original Star Wars--once it was a success-- allowed Lucas to finish what he intended, and remember, in that era, films of that scale took more time to complete, so its not really comparable to modern film production.
Regarding the MCU, yeah, by the time of the first Avengers, it was a young series, with only the first two Iron Man films, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger in the can. 6 films in a series meant to have no predicted end is young, just like the DCEU at this point.

I thought that the action held together a lot better than the Ares fight in Wonder Woman or the Doomsday fight in Batman v Superman.
That was my main reaction to Heard-- she's like Scarlet Johansson but with less range.
I think Heard and Momoa are both very limited actors who both stumbled into roles that happened to perfectly fit their skill sets. It will be interesting to see if they can parlay this success into anything else.
I enjoyed the music in the film. The underwater synthesizer stuff gave me a very Tron vibe while the stuff from when they were wandering the desert gave me a very 1990s screwball action movie vibe, like maybe something out of the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies or something. I can't quite put my finger on it but I like it.
Sucker Punch is a massive mashup of nearly every genre out there, with a lot of visuals from war films and kung-fu movies. And since the whole thing is framed as a hallucination by a mental patient, I'm not sure that Sucker Punch is a movie that can be pigeonholed into a single genre.
6 movies still feels relatively young compared to Marvel's 20. Also, Marvel settled on its brand pretty quickly, giving it a fairly mature and developed vibe by the time we got to movie #6. DC feels younger because it's still finding itself. And can we really count the previous movies as part of its legacy when they seem to be keeping an eye on jettisoning a lot of their pre-Wonder Woman work anyway?
