NFL 2018 Season

He could have made a better kick, so changing it probably doesn't help him.
He missed 10 kicks during the regular season, so this kick was likely destined for the upright, "block" or no.
This is a good example of why you don't pay a kicker big $$$ including guaranteed money. They're too streaky.
A little more of what we saw from Trubisky in the last drive, spread out over the rest of the game would've meant we weren't in a position to need that FG. They were way too conservative for 59 minutes.

Bruce Arians ends up as HC in Tampa, with Todd Bowles as his DC. The guy must really want or need that job if it means being handcuffed to Winston.

Vic Fangio to the Broncos...damn! I don't know if another DC will get the best out of our Bears defense the way Vic did, but good luck to him. Most great coordinators don't translate to great or even good head coaches. Plus Elway isn't exactly good at estimating coaching talent.

I really like Bruce Arians as a coach, and I think this is a pretty bad hire, especially with a GM on the hot seat.

I'm not convinced John Elway has a clue what he is doing.

The Browns hire Freddie Kitchens to be their head coach? Something doesn't compute there. The guy was an offensive coordinator for eight games.

Based on who they've interviewed, I'm hoping the Dolphins go with Brian Flores.

I would prefer a defensive minded coach, especially if he can help us rebuild from the ground up. Dump the Free Agents, dump Tannehill, let's stink for a year or two to build an identity other than "mediocre team that spends way too much on FAs"

Flores is currently the Patriots defensive coordinator. :techman:

I'm not sure he was ever really a problem, beyond injuries. And a porous offensive line had a lot to do with it.
Perhaps I worded that poorly. I am fine with Flores because he would likely be a defensive minded coach.
Tannehill wasn't able to use the tools provided him and was very inconsistent.
His time has come and gone.

I think the offensive v. defensive mindset of head coaches is kind of dumb, and I think its perpetuation is the cause for a lot of the mediocrity in the league. The head coach should just be to know all facets of the game.

Look at Belichick. He started out coaching special teams, then spent years as an offensive skill-positions coach before becoming an LBs coach and then a defensive coordinator. And that was before his first failed attempt at head coaching.

If we're going to get pedantic, New England is Belichick's third head-coaching gig.

The defensive-coordinator-to-head-coach track is slowly dying; more and more head coaching candidates are coming from the offensive track instead. These days it's all about finding someone with an innovative offensive approach and a strong rapport with the franchise quarterback (assuming you have one). Which is why I suspect that Kitchens managed to land the Browns gig despite only having half a season as OC: the strong, positive rapport he developed with Baker that led to Cleveland's offensive improvements after Jackson's firing.

Dear Dallas Cowboys,

You are cordially invited to suck it.

Your pals,

The Los Angeles Rams

McVay called a near perfect game tonight. Goddamn do I love seeing us run the ball like that.

I must say that having been present at the Coliseum the last time the Rams played the Cowboys in the playoffs, which was a nightmare, the game tonight gave me a certain amount of satisfaction.

Well, I guess I'll step up to talk Colts. Definitely one of the worst games they've played this year. Luck was surprisingly off. KC's defense played a lot better than I thought they would. So, the Chiefs move onto their first AFC title game since the 93 season. Mahomes' Chiefs are not the Chiefs of old.

As for the Colts, they had a far better year than expected with an extremely young team and a rookie head coach. Get Luck some more weapons and they'll be fine for the foreseeable future.
