One bit I liked was Ralph muttering “And it’s not even Tuesday” (although it actually was Tuesday for Canadian viewers relying on Netflix).
Hey guys and girls and other people. Not actively watching any of the DC shows right now. How spoilery would it be to just watch the Elseworld special crossover? Is it in the regular continuity or more like Enterprise’s In a Mirror, Darkly?
It is in the regular continuity, but I wouldn't say it spoils anything major unless Spoiler: really tiny Arrow related spoiler that I'm not sure it's even worth spoiler tagging you expected Oliver to be in prison for life. I'd say watch it.
It's nominally in the regular continuity, but it makes minimal references to the ongoing story threads in each series. They chose to make it the midseason finale so that they could wrap up the main plot arcs of each show's first half-seasons (or third-of-a-seasons, more like) and then have a lull into which they could fit the crossover. So it does allude in passing to certain recent plot developments on each show, but not in any detail, so that people who aren't regular viewers won't have much trouble following.
It's not that I don't like the show, it's that I didn't catch the first seasons and it's not available on Netflix Canada. I'll catch up eventually.
Travel between most of the other Earths seems fairly common, so I wouldn't be surprised if they accept other Earth's currency.
This isn't the first time this has come up, though, right?! Sherloque wanted to get paid, and he fully expected to leave Earth-1 once he got paid.
Same authors, same season, same problem. I remember a Sliders, early on, where they were trying to pay for stuff with regular green dollars, but the commies had taken over in the 50s, so American currency was Red now, and the secret police rounded them up as revolutionaries. Early episode of Journeyman(it's all on youtube), the secret service (they handle counterfeiting) got annoyed that there were dollars in circulation signed by the treasurer that wasn't going to be office until after the next Presidential election.
If a few exceptions like Earth-X, currency could be fairly interchangeable. Fringe’s main universe and other universe were pretty identical, except that MLK was on the $20 and Andrew Jackson was unheard of.
Which would still be illegal. If a bill looks exactly like a Federal Reserve note but isn't actually issued by them, that makes it counterfeit.
That might work in Sliders (where they glossed over the currency issue routinely), but if we're talking about a multiverse where interdimensional travel is fairly routine, then it stands to reason that a lot of Earths would have the ability to track down interdimensional criminals. That's what Gypsy and Breacher did, to enforce the draconian anti-breaching laws of their world (paradoxically enough); so it follows that there could be other Earths with breachers hunting down violators of different sets of laws.
Try paying for your American busfare with Canadian quarters. Why didn't anyone ask Nora what was up with the Monitor and the Book of Destiny(which is a Sandman reference)? Oh. Doctor Dee, or the Monitor removed her from play? So that means that original Cicada was in play too.
The Book of Destiny (and Destiny) predates Gaiman's Sandman. He's the only one of the Endless not created by Gaiman.
Yup.... and they already gave a nod to it, with the original Thawn in the past still expecting Barry's daughter to be Dawn of the Tornado Twins. He was surprised by Nora.
I'm curious. Does Netflix still mail people stuff in their inventory? Could you maybe get the episodes sent to you and you watch them on dvd? I don't even know if they still provide that service. Jason
