It doesn't work that way, sorry. Besides, I'd be delighted if the biggest issue I had with Discovery was the size of someone's head on a poster.

Pike knowing about it doesn't bother me really. He's a legend in Starfleet even by this time. But there is no way Micheal and Ash should have casual knowledge of Section 31 (or that Georgiou should just be flashing the badge). If random enlisted officers know about Section 31, it would be basically impossible for it to be totally suppressed in history by the 24th century - presuming the Federation isn't actually a totalitarian state.

I also find it amusing that the Enterprise is all over this poster when i wouldn't be shocked at all if she only appears in the first 30 seconds of Episode 1 when Pike beams over to the Discovery. Then we don't see her the rest of the season, lol.

Is he? There was nothing in "The Cage" to indicate he was anything other than your average skipper.

Threat can’t be that serious. Kirk isn’t even captain yet.

We know that Micheal briefly goes over to Spock's quarters on Enterprise and looks around. We don't know if we get to see the bridge however.

If Section 31 decides to go underground, it's a "simple" matter of classifying all their previous work and scrubbing their name from the records where they can, a much easier task when virtually everything is networked and digital. The people who know about them don't talk about it (it's classified). In a couple decades, they are all but forgotten by anyone except those who they want to know. Officially they become an obscure defunct branch of Starfleet Intelligence that was shut down long ago. Only of interest to Starfleet trivia buffs.

That would be Star Trek, yes. You seem to think a sweeping mix of action, adventure, and contemplation requires Galaxy Shattering Stakes for some reason. There's nothing wrong with Galaxy Shattering Stakes, but when every story has them, it gets samey, especially when you had no buildup. Trek generally has had seasons of Character Shattering Stakes or even Planet Shattering Stakes (and many Less Shattering Stakes) before getting to the One Big Thing, and even then, the OBT was generally a bit more amorphous - ie, the thing at stake is Peace Itself or Our Way of Life or Lots of Lives but generally not All Lives In The Universe (though DS9 was rather casual about that Proto-Universe).

If they were smart, they would just leave that completely out of the show.

What? You're now upset that they DIDN'T use the "Enterprise is the ONLY ship in range..." trope? Make up your mind. ;)

Are you seriously so upset because ST: D doesn't follow the 'planet of the week' of TNG? Also, you forgot to comment on my point about DS9. Also, I didn't but I could bring up Season 3 of "Enterprise" as well.

The point is: Like TNG changed the format of "What was Star Trek" for the 1980ies-1990ies; ST: D is doing for 2018.

Yes, it's trying to go the way of 'big stakes' serial story shows like "Game of Thrones" and "The Expanse", etc. It's the 'big spectacle' Star Trek show.

Want something smaller? Maybe the Picard show will fit your bill and you can watch him talk about the 'old days' on the 1701-D as nurses tend to him in the 'Old Captains/Admirals Home.' ;)

I agree. But there was nothing during the TOS era that suggested Kirk was anything more than just a normal captain. The later shows made him into a legend in-universe as fanwank.

I dunno how much Pike was referenced in Berman Trek, but I remember in Season 1 Discovery listed Pike as one of the most decorated captains in Trek history (along with Georgiou, April, and Archer...yech!) Burnham also knew right away who he was when the Enterprise showed up. So the show has established he's a BFD.

If they work at all the way Sloane claimed, they shouldn't even have badges.

Only one thing needs to be done. Everyone who knows about Section 31 needs to be “taken care of”.

As long as I enjoy the ultimate story (and I don't know if I will or won't); no, the 'Galaxty Shattering Stakes' trope doesn't bother me as long as it's interesting.

Yeah. The whole point of them is that they wouldn’t be connected to Starfleet. The badge sort of gives that away.

I honestly take that graphic about as seriously as I take the show. As in, not at all.

The graphic actually represents another slip in the "this is all one universe" stuff. The NCC-1701 is the first Federation ship named Enterprise. They had to make the NX-01-era Starfleet an Earth organization in order to try and reconcile that. Now, Archer is being counted as a Federation Starfleet captain.

Her adopted brother is an officer on his ship. I imagine she would learn things about it either directly from him or from Amanda who shares family news.

My point is there is too much focus on Burnham, the worst character on the show. If they wanted to improve the show her part should have been scaled right back for S2. The poster makes it clear that she will still be the main character, which is the worst thing they could do. I think very few people tune into the show to see her....

The CGI shots look better. Don’t look as dark and gloomy as before.
