Legendary's Godzilla 2 & beyond - News & Rumors

We got a brief, yet decent look at Mothra. I have to say she looks pretty good and more faithful to the original than I thought she'd be. And certainly better looking than her toy.

Yeah, I liked the brief glimpse of Mothra we got in the trailer a lot better than the toy.

Damn, that does look glorious. Step aside, Pacific Rim, that's how you do a monster movie.

I love CCH Pounder's pet line. I hope she's not just in that one scene. Every movie and show needs more CCH Pounder.

And Millie Bobby Brown isn't allowed to curse! My poor ears!

Awesome trailer.
It was nice to get more of a look at Rodan, Ghidorah, and Mothra.
My favorite part:
"You want to make Godzilla our pet?"
"No, we will be his".
It sounds like Godzilla might be the good guy this time.
He was last time too, we just got in his way.

I don't even have to see the movie to know it's gonna be awesome and please die-hard fans AND contemporize it at the same time. Alex Kurtzman should be forced to watch it with toothpicks holding his eyelids open to learn how it's done. I'd go so far as to say the art/cinematography is oscar-grade despite its genre. Truly beautiful shot composition.

If that were a bit in "Robot Chicken", the scene would cut to Godzilla and he'd say, "Yeah, yo' my b!tches, now, mutha f*ckas!"

Thanks, JD! I'm flattered!

One of my favorite "Robot Chicken" sketches spoofs the movie "Training Day" culminating in the memorable line "King Kong ain't got sh!t on me!" Except in the animated clip it's a stop motion figurine of Godzilla as the older cop and a quasi Minilla (Minya) as the rookie. When Godzilla finally says that line, Kong rises from hiding behind a building and throws a dripping glob of, ahem, "waste matter" that splats Godzilla square in the back of his skull. He just stands there in shock as Kong grunts a chuckle.

Zhang Zi Yi? Is she just going to speak chinese and pretend to be angry in this too?

Rest of the trailer looks good. I'm cautiously optimistic after disliking the first one. I hope that it's not a little girl makes friends with Big G type of movie.

So, has it been confirmed that Millie Brown's character is going to be this Universe's version of Miki Saegusa? It's the feeling I'm getting.

For those of us who aren't steeped in Godzilla lore, what does that mean?

Miki Saegusa (Megumi Odaka) was a recurring character in 6 of the 7 films in the Heisei (1984-94) continuity -- the most frequently recurring human character in the entire franchise, though her role varied from supporting to lead depending on the film. She was a psychic who worked with the government and military (and eventually the G-Force organization in the last few films), as her ability allowed her to sense and occasionally somewhat communicate with Godzilla, or with the kaiju he fought.

Yeah, one can interpret her "breakdown" in the trailer as being overwhelmed by some psychic onslaught. Of course, she might just be "freaking out" from hearing people dying as they're trying to send radio distress messages. But I too wondered if there might be some parallel with Saegusa and her abilities.

So, combing through the second trailer, there seem to be two shots of Kaijus not the Big Four, and Legendary said a long while ago that there would be more Kaijus in the movie. So, here are the two shots:

Those kinda look like spider legs, so the first guess would be Kumonga. It could also be Ebirah, but that's not really the right environment.

Burrowing through the Earth, this could be Baragon, but Anguirus has also done so, and Anuirus is the far more popular Kaiju, and one who is more closely associated with Godzilla.

This is, of course, pure speculation.

There are more bodyparts than confirmed titans/kaiju so far, I think we'll be seeing two or three other classic monsters as well. They're probably just concentrating on the ones with the most plot/screen time.

I hope so and Millie isn't type cast as a child psychic who occasionally get's nosebleeds forever.
