Yeah, they call it a "Katric Ark":Well, of course, the muggles in the Federation would never use (or even know), the term "Horcrux"...
So the katric ark is basically the last “system restore” point?I don't believe that katra has ever been the same as a neoplatonic idea of soul, though it can be seen as something equivalent. The Katra seems more like a "last good backup" of a Vulcan's memories and personality. It can work imperfectly in another sentient body, it can be transferred to certain storage media.
While Katra do appear to be stored from at least some exceptional members of Vulcan society, they don't seem to make a point of storing everyone's Katra or if they do, the process is more recent to the TOS era and beyond, as it was certainly not that common during the Vulcan High Command era.
So, no, I don't think she's a horcrux.
We are, yes.OMG! WE'RE the MU!
So the katric ark is basically the last “system restore” point?
And the Fal Tor Pan is basically just going into control panel and conducting a system restore?
Star Trek III: the search for the boot disk
We are, yes.
So... when Spock got to the end of the Kholinar, the Vulcan lady basically said “Spock, you have performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, please contact the programme vendor”.Perhaps the real reason for Vulcan's purging of emotions is a lack of storage space and throughput
Thus, Harry Potter and Star Trek exist in the same universe.
Think about this for a second: have any Trek characters ever referenced the Harry Potter series on screen? Nope. So Potter and Trek are on the same dimensional plane of existence.

So the horcrux must have been destroyed before Sarek died...So long as the horcrux exists, the wizard cannot die.
to make dark wizards ham it up for many books without having to do anything.
The saucer section spins around and around, the ship rolls over a few time, and then the whole thing goes zipping upward.I don't mind "magic", if you're doing something interesting with it. I loved the idea of the Spore Drive, thought the execution was absolutely dull and unimaginative.
Excuse me while I laugh uproariously.
Discovery is magical enough on its own without Harry Potter references.
Major spoiler for Harry Potter:
A horcrux is an object, animal or person which has a piece of a wizard's soul in it. So long as the horcrux exists, the wizard cannot die.
The Katra seems more like a "last good backup" of a Vulcan's memories and personality. It can work imperfectly in another sentient body, it can be transferred to certain storage media.
They had the summer off.
I only know it's a Harry Potter thing. That was enough for me. But since many I know in Real Life are Harry Potter fans, I've had plenty of exposure to this theory.W
