Official Avengers 4 Anticipation Thread

If the ship was attacked and severely damaged, I don't think she would have to be expelled or killed. Based on the torture scene in Infinity War, sheeler seems to be entirely mechanical at this point and therefore wouldn't need food, water, and oxygen anymore.

Nice teaser, it didn't show us a ton of plot details, but it did give us a nice feel for how thing are going after The Decimation.
So is this the first official confirmation that Clint has taken on the Ronin identity? I know it was rumored, and there were some leaks, but I don't remember an official announcement.

Silly question. Why would Stark and nebula be adrift on the Milano ? I’m sure theres a planet nebula might know of. A ravager port or somewhere

I like how the teaser tells us basically nothing we didn't already know or at least guess on our own and yet still managed to be enticing.
I can't help but wonder if we'll see some of the ramifications of the decimation in the wider cosmos. I mean every planet looking half of it's biota is nothing short of an environmental catastrophe. And what about the major powers? The Kree Empire must be in absolute chaos right now and what about the planets like Zandar and Zen-Whoberi that he already "decimated" the old fashioned way? Were they exempt or are they now down to one quarter?

And yes I'm going to be that guy that points out that "decimation" is a reduction by one tenth, not one half!

Going by what she's said, Nebula still has a biological brain if nothing else and there's a whole bit in GOTG2 about her being hungry, so clearly she still needs food and oxygen.

She was also gasping for air when ego suffocated her and gamora in rocks

A little disappointed that they went with Endgame, which I thought was the most boring of all the possible title options that have been thrown out there for the last 6 months.

The best parts were the Ronin reveal and scene with Ant-Man at the end. The scene with Tony was fine, however I have the sneaking suspicion that he is moments away from meeting a talking raccoon, and I would have rather seen that.

I'm guessing Clint's family got dusted.
Definitely. Just the look on his face says it all. But even without that, the mere fact he's out fighting whoever in Japan strongly indicates he has no family to be with.

The bigger question is why is he in Japan and who he is he beating up?

I always wished we had got a post credit scene showing Clint a home with his family and they all fade away around him.
Perhaps that’s how it opens.
I expected that to be the post-credit scene, too, but I'm glad they went with the glimpse-of-hope ending instead of the morbid family slaying ending. I agree that moment would work well as the opening scene of End Game, or at the least the opening of Clint storyline.

Same here. That's the best kind of trailer as far as I'm concerned. Obviously, the next trailer or two will reveal more, but this is one hell of well-done tease.

I've been wondering about this, too, particularly the effects on biota and I wonder how deeply the movie will go into all of that. I don't expect it to be a major plot point, but I do hope it's at least addressed intelligently.

Good man! :bolian:

Ah, that's right. Thanks for the reminders.

I refuse to take socio-echological advice from a guy that thinks abduction and systematic abuse is love, and a cult is any substitute for an actual family! ;)
So what you're saying is you believe in science and not some guy who might say "I'm not a scientist but..."? Madness!

I mean if we're talking half of *all* living organisms that mean's for Earth at least, it's ability to convert CO2 into O2 just got cut in half meaning global warming is about to drastically accelerate. I don't even want to think about the effect on micro-organisms, particularly the kind that tend to reproduce like crazy if there's nothing keeping them in check.

Honestly though, I doubt Thanos is stupid enough to not have thought of this so I presume his reasoning is that (as is the case after all mass extinctions) there will be a chaotic period of symbiotic system crashes followed by evolutionary adaptation such as niche partitioning resulting in a new equilibrium.
Problem is, that'd take thousands of years and most surviving intelligent species will have to rely on *more* technology and industrialisation just to make it through the strife. Some might even turn predatory, raiding other worlds for slaves to exploit the suddenly abundant resources they need to sustain themselves.

"Decimate" means to take off one tenth...

A couple of thoughts I forgot to mention before:

I've noticed elsewhere that people are assuming that Shuri was dusted, but I don't that's the case. Scott Lang is marked as "missing" (although how would they know?) and Peter Parker left Earth well before the snap, so they don't know if he was actually dusted or not. With that in mind, it's entirely possible that Shuri is also marked as "missing" as well. Perhaps they laid eyes on her (or at least Okoye) and then she disappeared on her own personal mission. For all we know, Clint is also on that list until Natasha tracks him down in Japan.

We didn't get a good look at it at the end of Infinity War (only barely in the bottom corner of the screen and only if you're looking for it), but it's good to see the Thanos scarecrow in full display now. A great callback to the original mini-series. :D

Indeed, a very complex mess. That's why I hope the Russo brothers at least address that situation and perhaps acknowledge that Thanos actually only wiped out half of sentient life. But then the next question is how do you define sentient life, or more importantly, how does Thanos?

I may be reading too much into it, but I couldn't help notice Tony's choice of words in his message: "...zero promise of rescue..." I mean why not, right? ;)
These scenes will probably be the "opening" moments, considering how the movie is supposed to be like 3 hours long. Then we get a time jump.
Also, what we're seeing here has to be at least long enough since the snap for 1) The Milano (a ship used to carrying a crew of a half dozen) to run out of food and air for 2 people, max. 2) For Hawkeye to go all Ronin and find himself a mission in (presumably) Japan. 3) For the remaining Avengers to put together at least a cursory accounting of MIAs and 4) Scott managing to find a way out of the Quantum Realm on his own and apparently drive from San Francisco to upstate New York in Luis's van...

So there's clearly something of a time jump here, even if it's only a week or two.
