MLB Offseason 2018-19: SIGN KIMBREL AND KEUCHEL YOU FUCKS

I don't understand how shifts make for four hour games? If anything, batters are having a tougher time getting on base which should make for shorter games.

Expanded rosters and teams running out 7,8,9 pitchers a game is what makes the games long. Once the rosters expand in September, I usually tune out for the season.

No to mention what happens if he gets another suspension. Wouldn't that be for a 160 games?

Jesse Chavez signs a 2 year deal with the Rangers

Damn. The Cubs really need to keep good relievers like this guy, even at 35 he was damn good for us.

Presumably the Cubs learned their lesson from Duensing and decided to not throw money at an aging reliever with little to no prior history of success who suddenly broke out for half a season with the Cubs.

Now watch him continue to be incredibly dominant while the Cubs are still saddled with another year of a cooked-as-fuck Duensing. :barf:

2 years at $8M isn't a bank breaker. And we still have Walkwood to go along with Duensing.

Makes sense after all those magnificent victories he's negotiated for the union, such as...

Whoever designed this...what the hell were they smoking?

Dude, that ballpark concept owns (I love the concept of the retractable batter's eye, makes sense since the park faces south), and they're preserving the field of the Coliseum. Imagine being a Little Leaguer or a high-school player and being able to play on that.

I do wonder just how far it's going to be to straightaway center:

Not sure I want to be a visiting center fielder there...

One of the best things about the new Yankees stadium is the baseball fields where the old one use to be.

Agreed. I'm glad the A's plan to do the same thing with the Coliseum site (they're even keeping the old Oracle Arena).

One question, though...will the new ballpark at Howard have any kind of mass transit access? There's no BART station down there (like there is at the Coliseum), amirite?

Please explain.

With the batter's eye, that it's retractable will help with any potential sun issues instead of letting batters be blinded. (Although I need to review the map, it's possible the stadium will face east. Of course, it's purely conceptual at this point since the team doesn't even have a lease or purchase agreement for the land.)

In the Twitter thread announcing the stadium, the A's said that they will be working with the community on building pedestrian bridges and expanding public transit to the area.

Love this kid.

Is there any chance of him landing a starting spot?

I'm not sure what there is to "love" about a guy with a 78 career OPS+, but, he's 26, everything about him projects as a utility bench guy. Looking through game logs, when he starts he's basically an automatic 0-4. He's like a ... not-fat Lenny Harris. Good defensive replacement, not someone to have in the lineup every day.
