The Solo prequel? Yeah, I read it. It's not essential, but some really interesting character stuff. Shows on Han and Qi'ra started becoming a couple, so does offer some context for their interactions in the movie.

What a sorry mess that turned out to be. Not a huge fan of Wendig's writing style or his caustic posts, but I think he was treated badly. Also sad to see the fandom cyberbullies and trolls given a win.

Yeah no, while they did technically win, he did deserve it by the way he treated people.

FWIW, the revised Haynes Millennium Falcon Manual is out on bookstores shelves - at least it is at my local Barnes & Noble. A great update tot he earlier volume - it now includes material of the Falcon during the time it belonged to Lando.

The book also contains, I believe, our first official image of the YT-1300 pushing freight (image is from the Amazon preview pages)

Using the mandibles to push freight has been mentioned in many sources in the new canon, but I think this is the first time it's been visualized officially.

There was concept art drawn for one of the Cross-Section Books, I think TFA's, but it didn't make it into the book.

Yup. Thought that was pretty spiff when I saw it the first time earlier today. There's a lot of new stuff in this edition. They've redone the deck plans and they make a bit more sense now, IMO.

I saw a preview for this on IGN the other day, it looks pretty cool, I'm definitely planning on checking it out. They did one covering all of the Enterprises (or at least all of the Prime ones, I'm not sure if it has the Kelvin E) and one for the Klingon Bird of Prey that also look pretty cool.

Looks like someone got hold of the Falcon and attached the Horizon from Enterprise to it.

Can't recommend the Enterprise book, but the Bird Of Prey book rocks. Rick Sternbach did the work on that one and it has complete deck plans for a BoP.

That container design has existed since before enterprise

That imagine was in the original Haynes manual as well, I believe. The idea of the YT-1300 as a cargo pusher has been around for a while.

There's no mention of freight pushing on the Legends page on Wookieepedia as far as I can tell

Plus the furthest left bottom crate has Sabine's version of the Rebels emblem painted on it.

The crate models are also the ones from Solo.

I know. But, I'm trying to remember the first Haynes manual and I'm pretty sure it had the cargo pusher idea presented. I know there are concepts of using the mandibles to hold smaller craft, among other ideas. But, I have struggled to figure out the exact chronology of the concept.

All I can find in the EU is that the centre of the mandibles has a cargo door and cargo loading arms on the inside of the mandibles, but nothing about actually putting cargo containers there.

Some variants of the YT-1300 did have the cockpit in the centre instead of the sides.

Here's the concept art from 2015. The cargo design almost matches the design from Solo, though as I said above, cargo containers of this shape existed in Legends as well.

The Falcon Cross section there is from the original Haynes manual, confidently enough.
