Episodes nobody ever talks about

Miramanee

Lieutenant
Newbie
Or hardly ever:
The Mark of Gideon
Operation: Annihilate!
The Empath
The Ultimate Computer
Elaan of Troyius
Mudd's Women
Return to Tomorrow
That Which Survives
For the World is Hollow...
Patterns of Force
A Private Little War
Obsession

I like most of those episodes. The only one that busts my chops is Patterns of Force. I just have a low tolerance for 'parallel planet' episodes. I mean, what was going to be next...a Girls Gone Wild parallel planet?

It's got to be "The Immunity Syndrome." Other than Spock being able to sense the force and figuring out the Starfleet ship filled with all Vulcans is all about, I think everything else is ignored. Which is a shame. It's got some of the best Spock/McCoy banter in it.

All of the episodes you list are infinitely superior to TNG's Masks.

They each have their individual moment and often include pieces of TOS universe building, offering clues into future Human society, Starfleet and the the 23rd century in general.
I can't think of anything good in The Mark of Gideon

I do like the scene where Kirk starts to beam down, but reappears immediately back in the Transporter Room. Other than that, it's just another 3rd season/Fred Freiberger bummer.
