I'll have to take your word about what the game itself actually says, since it is not available in the UK.

The game does credit Paramount, but it doesn't have anything to do with them.

A little off topic maybe, but it's a shame that the Into Darkness tie-in console game wasn't that good. All they had to do was shamelessly rip off Mass Effect with more emphasis on dialogue and diplomacy.

Conceptually the idea was great and there's a part of me that feels like there would be potential for a fan made animated movie using audio dialogue tracks ripped from the game married to newly created animation because getting the entire Kelvin cast to provide their voice talents was a serious advantage and all that feels wasted on the game ;) But under the hood it had so many problems. And they were problems it didn't really need to have had. But yeah, in concept the potential was definitely there for it to have been maybe one of the best Trek games ever made...

The near-constant banter between Kirk and Spock (and often hilarious banter between them and the rest of the crew) was the highlight of that game.

It nailed the right tone. The atmosphere of the game feels so right, in so many ways, it's just such a shame it was buggy as all hell.

That's funny you mention that. I've noticed that in that game, as well as in the Kelvin Timeline comics, they nail the tone and characters while still doing fresh things. Something the movies didn't do until Beyond. The Kelvin Universe could really be something refreshing and special with the right brain trust running the show.

The best glitch I had was where I killed the first Gorn while he wasn't near the door he has to fall through, and so that cutscene wasn't triggered. Instead I was stuck in a locked room with a dead Gorn that Spock wouldn't stop shooting. So I tried ordering Spock to stand somewhere else. This just caused the Gorn corpse to start sliding across the floor wherever I went. :rommie:

Apparently some companies haven't heard of "quality control."

these videos keep popping up in my twitter feed and i watch them because i'm a sucker for kelvin stuff.

but the USS constellation looks so off to me without the star trek beyond redesign. guess she didn't get the same upgrade the enterprise did.

Someone's gotta be the first to be refit before the others. Why not the flagship?

Weil, it's finally available for download here so I've done it.. But when I went to open it, it said it needed to download more stuff and that I'd need to wait until I had wifi to speed the process. Dang these government buildings.. Now I gotta wait til I get home. Boooo!

I read somewhere online (from the writer of the game - who also worked on some of the Kelvinverse comic storyline’s) that Fleet Commands is set after STID and before Beyond - so would explain why the Beyond-Refit / upgrade may not have happened yet for the USS Constellation (also for the 1701 - which is still as it appeared in STID, within the game).

I think there’s a lot of room to move within this setting - still most of the older fleet designs, but with the inevitable changes still ahead.

As it stands, the rate I’m going (also not buying into microtransactions) if I ever am able to acquire a Kelvinverse Connie, it’s probably only going to be the Mark 1 model...

    :p

I was actually wondering exactly when it was set until I stumbled upon the article - which I managed to find again:

'Star Trek Fleet Command' Writer Teases Post-'Beyond' Kelvin Timeline Stories - https://comicbook.com/startrek/2018...-command-kelvin-timeline-post-beyond-stories/

Update: rereading the article, he actually says it’s set just before Beyond - which by implication might suggest we get the Beyond Refit quite soon (at least on the verge of).

Actually, based on what we saw of the Enterprise at the very end of STID, it stands to reason that the game is actually set before the damage the 1701 received from the Vengeance, before it was repaired and shown in the final warping scene of STID.

Ok i tried it on my apple device and it's cute but I'm not sure i understand where is the 'story' set before beyond. The only sign it's the kelvin timeline is the face of the characters and the music

well according to the interview @saddestmoon posted above, it'll continue plot threads and include characters from the defunct comic book series about the kelvin timeline's starfleet academy and the comics about the enterprise crew set immediately after star trek beyond.

nice to see there's some life left there, but idk i don't play mobile games or read comic books so i'm out of the loop there.
