Has anyone figured out what the story is with the Short Trek's international distribution? Are they to be for example to arrive along with Disco season 2 on Netflix, or are they considered equivalent to a web series due to their short length, and will then not be distributed internationally?

I think CBS offered them to Netflix but got turned down because the asking price was too high.
My theory is that Short Treks isn't exclusive to Discovery-settings, and Netflix wasn't interested in buying a series that'll eventually do short episodes for series it doesn't air. But if Netflix has signed on for all the future Trek series, I predict Short Treks will get its international release soon. Maybe all together in January.

The reason I am curious is that Netflix did sign on to the Picard series so its a bit of a mystery. I am considering its possible that the Short Treks are sort of the equivalent of DVD box set extras that are instead being released this fall to help get people excited for Discovery season 2 and also to help drive CBS All Access subscriptions. Netflix prefers the binge model when possible, so I could see them thinking its good to include with the new season, and Netflix has a lot of other content to keep people from cancelling during the fall, so they probably don't need the Short Treks quite as much right now as CBS All Access does.

I'm wondering how i can watch Short Treks Calypso legally in Australia?

I've got no clue where to watch it or where to find it.

Thanks.

I don't think you can. As far as I know the only legal viewing options are for US and Canada viewers of CBS All Access. Netflix decided to not stream the shorts, which really sucks.

They are launching All Access in Australia in December.

Discovery itself won't be on there, since it's on Netflix but Short Treks might be. Best check though.

Canada doesn’t have it on all access, we have it on premium Cable TV and another online service

I think it is more that 15 minute shows aired once a month just doesn't fit with what netflix does. I think best case for netflix is if they dump them all at once after the last one.

Yeah I don't think you can. I am hoping these are also collected and put on the season 2 Blu-rays when they come out, sucks to catch them so late but at least that could be one way to see them within the law.

Channel nine will be airing them at midnight, just like it did in the good old days,

Seriously though, unless netflix decides to air them we probably wont get to see them until the season 2 dvd release.

The Short Treks are currently showing up under the Star Trek Discovery Extras underneath the trailers as of today on Netflix.
