Series 11 News & Spoilers

I know where she’s from, one metropolitan borough to the west of me, but her accent still sounds off to my ear. Not all of the time, but often.

Could she be articulating her words differently than she normally would so we can (theoretically) understand her better? I've heard some northern folk talking normally, and have a hard time understanding anything they're saying.

On early Red Dwarf, Craig Charles had an unbelieveable Scouse accent, but you could tell by his lip movement that he was doing something he doesn't do on the newer series'.

Maybe, what sounds wrong in Jodie's accent is just an acting choice? That's the Doctor talking, after all. She didn't grow up in Britain.

I believe she's said that she softens it for the show but after an afternoon nattering with Mandip both their accents get broader and broader.

Nurse Mabli from The Tsuranga Conundrum sounded Irish to me, but she's from Glasgow.

Did anyone else hear an Irish accent?

That I’d like to see/hear, a proper broad doctor, like. You’re probably right though, and if she is metering the accent, it’s bound to sound off.

Obviously, we can’t have the lead actor of an internationally popular series sounding like Lynne Perrie in Kes, awesome as that would be.

She sounded very Scottish to me.
Quite definitly the Glasgow TV accent that Glaswegian actors always seem to put on.

It Takes You Away

'On the edge of a Norwegian fjord, in the present day, The Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz discover a boarded-up cottage and a girl named Hanne in need of their help. What has happened here? What monster lurks in the woods around the cottage - and beyond?'

The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos

'On the planet of Ranskoor Av Kolos, lies the remains of a brutal battlefield. But as the Doctor, Graham, Yaz and Ryan answer nine separate distress calls, they discover the planet holds far more secrets. Who is the mysterious commander with no memory? What lies beyond the mists? Who or what are the Ux? The answers will lead the Doctor and her friends towards a deadly reckoning.

Love a good fjord. Wonder if it’s Bad Wold Bay again.

As for the last one, sounds good. Something almost makes me wonder if the commander from Tsuranga is the memory-less one mentioned.

Are we expecting some kind of strory arc to be revealed? If there is one it's been incredibly subtle so far.

And I wonder if they went to Norway for Episode 9, because it's the kind of landscape you can't really fake in the UK.
