Nope, but only because I've completely forgotten what the Klingon Torchbearer costume looks like.
TBF, I thought it was a Cyberman redesign until it stood up. Since someone said Chibbers had fibbed about something, I was half-expecting a returning alien.
"Coming Soon" trailer. I only recognized 4 people. Lot of diversity though
Interesting, I don't think I noticed that. I'll have to watch the episode again (darn!) and pay closer attention to the music.

When I was watching the trailer bit, I was thinking the next Twitter troll whine will be the lack of white people in the upcoming season. Nice to see the show have such a diverse looking set of characters.
That would make sense, but the exterior was definitely NSEish, at least in the dark.
I’d like to moan about that stock being unrealistic on the mainline today, but I see them on the Barrow train everyday.

It's a shame it was such a bog standard story which combined with the lack of TARDIS and general lack of regeneration transition made it hard to get excited over. I felt like Jodie at times didn't quite inhabit the character yet and kind of just felt like just reciting lines. Though I think her "sorry" may be the first genuine one of the nu Doctor era.
Next week will hopefully be a better barometer of what her Who will be like now that they've got this establishing one out of the way. With so few episodes it seems a shame to go with what felt like a throwaway.
I think I liked her in 12's clothes better than the outfit she ultimately chose.
Hopefully it grows on me with time. It's kind of nice having her build the sonic on-screen, gives a little more ownership (or whatever the proper word would be...) to it. Companions are OK but like everything in this episode, I'm not sold yet.

Interesting how they highlighted the upcoming guest stars but I also loved the wide diversity! I don't think we've ever seen that for Doctor Who. I only recognized a handful of names and-HOLY CRAP, Chris Noth?! I don't think we knew he was going to appear!
Here's the trailer for the second episode, "The Ghost Monument."
That was pretty good. Jodie works as the Doctor, the companion team and cliffhangers seem to have a vibe of the first 1963 season (Bradley Walsh surprisingly stealing it). The plot was a bit thin - looked like it was going to be Harlan Ellison's Soldier, but then turned out to be Predator - but gave us a nice intro to Thirteen. There were a couple of speeches obviously aimed at the naysayers, but totally within character and context, so weren't a problem. I'd say were in for a good season.
The cinematography and direction have been upped nicely. I'm not mad on minimalist tonal music, but the themes when they appeared were good, and the closing credit them... interesting mix of 60s version and new, but could stand to lose the snare drum sound. Overall, it's still DW and it worked for me. (No real thoughts one way or the other on the guest cast lineup for the season, since I've only heard of about four them anyway...)

Didn't see any such hint in the trailers after. As for the double pulse (no, not a spoiler) - it's been occasionally mentioned in the show since at least the Pertwee era, so nothing new there.
I did like the stripey scarf...
I won't be able to watch the episode until tomorrow, probably. From what I'm hearing people are like "She's good, but, ehhh we'll see" or "OMG that's amazing!" So, par for the course. A friend that I trust said "You'll either find her amazing or very annoying." We'll see, I guess.
Matt Smith took all of 20 minutes to grab me. Capaldi took the majority of Deep Breath before I said "Yeah, he'll work." I'll give Jodie 2 episodes. I'm optimistic. Cautiously.

I did like the fact the Sonic Screwdriver was made in the city of steel and they had nods to Jodie own's Yorkshire background embedded in her first story. If only she said every planet has a Yorkshire
More proof the show is full of its hollow hubris. Imagine if Troughton did those stupid sorts of in-jokes.
