Retconning 31 as the de facto Starfleet intelligence and espionage company with a silly name is really the best thing they could do. 31 has always been one of the worst ideas in the history of the franchise. It was conceptually flawed on a fundamental level and should have died with 'Inquisition.'
There's a huge difference between traditional pulp shadowy "spooks" and pure clandestine umbra. The former is fine, albeit a little juvenile, but the latter has never had any business in Trek (or any self-respecting franchise for that matter).

The classic D7 always looks nice, but it's maximum pandering and Spock is a hipster now.

Season One: Reimagine the Klingons, reimagine their ships.
Season Two: Make Klingons look more like they used to, bring back old ship designs.
I'm guessing Kurtzman's regime wan't it somewhat less reboot-y. Especially if it has to share a universe with Picard and potentially Worf from Next Gen.

Reminds me of that unused Klingon ship design from Enterprise, the one that got shelved for a k't'inga model in "Unexpected".I'm guessing he was out somewhere where cutting his beard and hair wasn't possible.

There are a lot of things I don't care about in this life. The shape of nacelles is somewhere high in that list.
Yeah the youtube comments are astounding. People still hating on it because it's not a clone copy of 90's trek.
In regards to the trailer. Oh man, January cannot come soon enough.
