A far -less- humble attempt at the Enterprise

Ok, so after posting my last attempts a while ago, I was imagining how to improve the nice-but-somewhat-awkward design of the 1701-A from Star Trek Beyond, and decided that I might as well just go in and improve my earlier stuff instead. After 28-30 hours of MS Paint nonsense, here is my (hopefully) definitive version of the Enterprise.

I'm getting a very strong Ambassador vibe from it, which I think stems from that slanted deflector and overall hotrod "gotta go fast" lines. Truth to be told, I'm not sure if I like that specific part. Going for a regular cutoff might aleviate that feeling. Overall, the design is cool, let there be no doubt about it. It's just that this design, for me, evokes more the feeling of being an intermediate step between the Refit Connie and Ambassador, skipping the Excelsior design.

(Holy shit Paint!? Dude... That's hardcore. You know... SketchUp is great for 2D work as well...)

It's meant to be a redesign of the original with some refit/reboot sensibilities. But yeah, the angled engineering section is definitely inspired by 1701-C. I just like the inherent motion that it gives, especially with the pylons now.

It did end up a bit larger, proportionally, than I expected, but I think it works well with the overall design. It's sure better than the reboot Enterprises' tiny secondaries.

I'm not a huge fan of the secondary hull but overall this is a HUGE improvement over what we were given in JJTrek.

I do love those nacelles.

I feel that since you are kinda of mimicking the Refit bridge hull that there maybe should be a docking port on the back of it, but I guess that's just my personal prejudice.

Absolutely not trying to denigrate your work, whatsoever, but I'm just not a fan of the deep cutout at the back. It's the style now, though, so I understand why people are using it. I guess the 1701-D kinda started it, but the C really took off with that idea.

Yeah it's inspired by the C design. I think it looks best for me around this size, but at least it's not as huge as the ones on the reboots.

I'm finding I need to apologize, once again, here.

The deep scallop did NOT start with the C. It actually started with a ship that, at the time, many people I knew did not like but I did. The Excelsior, NX-2000.

I thought the idea was to make the Excelsior an unlikeable, pompous, modernist, over-engineered design, and it turned out to become a fan favourite. It's my second-favourite, in fact.

Could have been. I haven't read anything on the actual design process or thoughts. I just remember people talking and fearing that the next Enterprise would be just that...an Excelsior-Class vessel.

There was something about the design that I'd actually liked. I don't know if it's the clean lines or what.
