Series 11 News & Spoilers

Reading comprehension. That's not what I've ever said. My issue is when the amnesia/trauma is to such a large degree that the Doctor is absent from large portions of the story. See 5th and 10th for prime examples.

Ok. Sure. I still like those stories.

A little advice for you. It's not recommended to toss out abrasive generalities in the first place. But, if you do, it's good to know what people are actually saying.

I'm quoting you here, "But yes, let’s freak out. Let’s scream and gnash our teeth."

Yep. That's what I wrote. And I stand by it.

Don't be surprised if you get push back to that. ;)

I wasn't surprised. Nor am I upset about the pushback...

I didn't see any of that in this thread and you were clearly overreacting. It was hard to tell who you were aiming it at exactly, but it seemed like it was directed at everyone who had some concerns over the amnesia approach.

Yep. It was directed at everyone who had concerns. It was a couple of lines written by who knows who, and suddenly it was "But, I hate amnesia stories!" (something you have said, as you said.) We literally don't know if it's an amnesia story. The amnesia could be 5 minutes for all we know.

Anyway, I reiterate my advice to you. Calm down a bit. Maybe take a break. When you start making comments like you did, it's time to walk away from the keyboard. :techman:

Um. No? Again, I'm fine. How are you?

^ Yes, but are they screaming and gnashing their teeth? We need to know! :guffaw:

Jeez. It was just a post on the internet. Maybe it's time for a break, ya?

That's a poor way to try to make a point. Weak sauce as you'd say. It's also poor practice to lob abrasive generalities like that. You might be proud of it, but it usually indicates that you don't have a strong argument and are resorting to insults.

Again with the reading difficulties. No wonder you get so worked up! You're jumping to extreme conclusions based on things you misread.

I never said that I hate amnesia stories. I said I had concerns because there were several before that I didn't care for. However, I also said that I wasn't going to worry about it until I saw the story because, in the end, it's the quality of the writing that will make or break it.
Um. No? Again, I'm fine. How are you?
Your writing in this thread suggests otherwise. After all, anyone who reads a calm discussion about the pros and cons of regeneration amnesia/trauma stories and their take away is: "But yes, let’s freak out. Let’s scream and gnash our teeth." clearly needs to take a step back for a bit.

It's a discussion board. We will discuss things. You won't agree with all the viewpoints. But that doesn't mean those discussing other viewpoints are screaming and gnashing their teeth. Maybe it's some form of projection? I don't know.

Back to the regularly scheduled discussion! :)

We’re on page forty of a thread about something we know next to sod all about but want to discuss anyway. The latest snippet gets a negative reaction from some, me included, because we’ve already seen it and aren’t keen to see it again. Unless of course, it’s played for laughs, in which case. Yo.

To me, the regeneration trauma is like a reset button episode, or a holodeck episode, it doesn’t appeal.

Different this time is there's no companions to carry the story along while the Doctor is out of service.

The 13th Doctor needs to start strong. Instead she's going to wander around for 45 minutes not actually being The Doctor until the end. This could easily be the worst opening episode since Time and The Rani, and it could easily be worse. I really have no interest in the first episode at this point, I'd skip it entirely and wait until episode 2 to start the next series if I wasn't such an obsessive nerd.

Well, if you're worried about that, you're gonna love this. Chibnall says we don't even get the new theme - or the opening visuals to go with it - until Episode 2. We're starting this new season cold as Jodie hits the dirt.

More reason to skip episode 1. Its apparently more of an Episode 0, and The Doctor won't be in it until the end apparently, it will just be Jodie Whitaker screwing around for 40 minutes (kind of like how the 10th Doctor is only in about 2 minutes of that godawful Human Nature/The Family of Blood story, even though David Tennant was in it a lot).

Unfortunately I'm too much of a nerd to do the smart thing and skip the pointless episode, so I'll watch 45 minutes of bullshit and hope the series gets better when it officially starts with Episode 2.

You know what? Do us all a favor and skip the review thread for the first episode. We already know what you think, so it'll be a waste of time for everyone involved.

I love it. She's so Yorkshire lol
Gods, that's so awesome. Reason #76535 why I love Jodie Whittaker. :D

Damn I now want to see Jodie reading this out!

She's great in that video, her facial expressions are just perfect.

I think that fan-rumor about the three different Doctors fit more with the possibility of Capaldi staying on for another season. Which made sense, since his Twelve was rather different in all three of his series.

We finally have a full trailer!

It's a fantastic trailer but the song choice annoyed me.

I hope all the haters won't watch the series and eat nails
