Reading comprehension. That's not what I've ever said. My issue is when the amnesia/trauma is to such a large degree that the Doctor is absent from large portions of the story. See 5th and 10th for prime examples.
A little advice for you. It's not recommended to toss out abrasive generalities in the first place. But, if you do, it's good to know what people are actually saying.
I'm quoting you here, "But yes, let’s freak out. Let’s scream and gnash our teeth."
Don't be surprised if you get push back to that.![]()
I didn't see any of that in this thread and you were clearly overreacting. It was hard to tell who you were aiming it at exactly, but it seemed like it was directed at everyone who had some concerns over the amnesia approach.
Anyway, I reiterate my advice to you. Calm down a bit. Maybe take a break. When you start making comments like you did, it's time to walk away from the keyboard.![]()
^ Yes, but are they screaming and gnashing their teeth? We need to know!![]()

You're right. That is a crazy thought.Hey, here's a crazy thought, let's watch the fricking episode and then decide?
That's fine.Ok. Sure. I still like those stories.
That's a poor way to try to make a point. Weak sauce as you'd say. It's also poor practice to lob abrasive generalities like that. You might be proud of it, but it usually indicates that you don't have a strong argument and are resorting to insults.Yep. That's what I wrote. And I stand by it.
Again with the reading difficulties. No wonder you get so worked up! You're jumping to extreme conclusions based on things you misread.Yep. It was directed at everyone who had concerns. It was a couple of lines written by who knows who, and suddenly it was "But, I hate amnesia stories!" (something you have said, as you said.) We literally don't know if it's an amnesia story. The amnesia could be 5 minutes for all we know.
Your writing in this thread suggests otherwise. After all, anyone who reads a calm discussion about the pros and cons of regeneration amnesia/trauma stories and their take away is: "But yes, let’s freak out. Let’s scream and gnash our teeth." clearly needs to take a step back for a bit.Um. No? Again, I'm fine. How are you?
Whew! Awesome! So, I guess that wasn't happening then. Thanks for the confirmation!Of course not. That's what sedatives are for!

The 13th Doctor needs to start strong. Instead she's going to wander around for 45 minutes not actually being The Doctor until the end. This could easily be the worst opening episode since Time and The Rani, and it could easily be worse. I really have no interest in the first episode at this point, I'd skip it entirely and wait until episode 2 to start the next series if I wasn't such an obsessive nerd.
Well, if you're worried about that, you're gonna love this. Chibnall says we don't even get the new theme - or the opening visuals to go with it - until Episode 2. We're starting this new season cold as Jodie hits the dirt.
More reason to skip episode 1. Its apparently more of an Episode 0, and The Doctor won't be in it until the end apparently, it will just be Jodie Whitaker screwing around for 40 minutes (kind of like how the 10th Doctor is only in about 2 minutes of that godawful Human Nature/The Family of Blood story, even though David Tennant was in it a lot).
Unfortunately I'm too much of a nerd to do the smart thing and skip the pointless episode, so I'll watch 45 minutes of bullshit and hope the series gets better when it officially starts with Episode 2.
Gods, that's so awesome. Reason #76535 why I love Jodie Whittaker.Jodie Whittaker reacts to Doctor Who response
I love it. She's so Yorkshire lol
