“Jean-Luc Picard is back”: will new Picard show eclipse Discovery?

L'Rell seems a bit more reasonable then T'Kuvma.

Not by a lot though.
True. She is holding the empire hostage in an act of terror that threatens every sentient being on the planet. She is still a Klingon after all.

I'd say more practical to appear reasonable.
She seems to pay close attention to which way the targ-chips are flying and then adjusts accordingly.

We'll have to wait for Season-2 to see which way the winds of war will blow her.
I’m hoping she develops into a legendary politician/statesklingon like Gorkon in s2

Martok is still the best Klingon Chancellor ever!
This is fact. Not even opinion

Hail Martok! :klingon:

I don't know. In truth we've known only three, including Martok. The first two were simply awful so it wasn't very hard to look extraordinary in comparison.
Do you mean K’Mpec and Gowron?

K’Mpec was seemingly corrupt but he was acting in the best interest of the empire.

Gowron seemed honourable at first but very quickly began to act in his own interest ahead of the empire.

What was wrong with Gorkon?

Gorkon was awful? That's a first :wtf:
Gorkon was a stone cold legend.

Didn't they hint that K'mpek (sp?) had been a big reason the Klingon/Fed alliance persisted and thrived? He didn't seem awful at all

I thought both K'mpec and Gorkon were better than Martok. Maybe because he was used so often, Martok veered into being campy.

Gorkon, Azetbur, K'mpec, Gowron, and Martok.

Gorkon was modeled after Gorbachev but reminds me of Lincoln. He has a nobility. Or at least that's the aura he had and the way he carried himself. He had the courage most other Klingons would probably not.

Azetbur is continuing her father's legacy and presumably had big shoes to fill. Gorkon took the first steps toward reaching out to the Federation but she had to carry it out.

K'mpec seemed like a crusty, old Klingon politician. I don't know. If he were on Earth today, he'd probably be the equivalent of Typical Career Washington.

Gowron was a charmer who tried to spin things to his own advantage. Text-book politician. "The lesser of two evils" between him and his opponent Duras.

Stopping right there, for a moment. Gorkon and Azetbur look like stalwarts but of a noble family that was Truly Noble. K'mpec and Gowron look like The Establishment. Gowron was called an outsider in "Reunion" but, like Paul Ryan, he was probably a very insider type of outsider.

Then there's Martok. He's like Teddy Roosevelt. He was a Rough Rider. Or Dwight Eisenhower. A general. And he's down to Earth and a true outsider. Like Jimmy Carter. So he's a regular guy and he's been out in battle. He's not Nobility. He's not a Career Politician. Leaders like him are rare among US Presidents, they're probably rare in other countries, and there's a good chance it's probably true in the Klingon Empire too. He's an actual Everyman who knows what he's doing and you don't get too many of those in power that often.

Martok feels like a Real Person. I know a couple of people like Martok. He's someone I'd hang out with. K'mpec is a Crusty Politician. Gowron is a "Tell 'em what they want to hear!" faker. Based on those reasons alone, I prefer Martok as a leader.

This is both a combination of what I think of a character and the types of politicians I happen to prefer in Real Life.

Dammit!!! I meant GORKON!!! :scream:

Oh! Okay, got it! Yeah, I can see why someone would prefer Gorkon over Martok.

With Gowron, I'd be like "What are you talking about?" Gowron is probably the Ronald Reagan of Klingon Chancellors. He seems likable but then when you think about what he's actually doing, you're like, "Wait a minute..."
