Jessica Jones Season 2

I'm curious where they go for S3. Jones doesn't have a rogues gallery.
I wonder if a Defenders S2 happens in between now and JJ S3, I'd like a Defenders S2 but I've heard no rumblings about one.
It is a foregone conclusion Hellcat will debut. To which she and Jess will likely fight about something because, well, Marvel heroes do that before re-composing themselves to the real threat. Question is, what will that S3 threat be though?

I've heard rumblings there are no plans at this time for another Defenders season.

I agree that it's inevitable for Jessica and Hellcat to trade blows for a few episodes, but it's not sustainable and they'll need to work out their differences for the greater threat. The question is what that greater threat will be. Does Hellcat have any good villains they can use? Or will they pull a Luke Cage and borrow a villain from another rogues gallery like they did with Nightshade?

Somewhere I read a rumor that they were going to tackle the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation story that was originally told in the Thing and Captain America's books and the big bad is going to be the MCU'S version of the Power Broker. it was just a rumor, of course, but that fits in with them using Dr. Karl Mallus season 2. He worked for the Power Broker in the comics. Maybe we'll see D-Man!

Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb and several of the actors have been saying in interviews that they have no plans to do a second season of The Defenders. Rumor has it that it's due to the original miniseries bombing viewer-wise, but the official company line is that "we never intended for there to be another season." I call bullshit on that being the original plan.

I finally finished up season 2 this season and I really enjoyed. I loved how they deep they went into Jessica's character and backstory. Her mom being the big bad was a huge surprise, and lead to some great character stuff for Jess.
Jeri Hogarth's story was probably my least favorite part of the season, it did intersect a bit with Jessica's story with the stuff with the nurse, but at times it still felt like it was there just to give Carrie Ann Moss something to do throughout the season.
I'm definitely curious to see what they are going to do with Trish now that she appears to on the way to becoming Hellcat. I wonder if we'll get a version of her costume?

The Power Broker, hmmmm interesting.
That opens up the possibility of having a few new faces show up during the course of the season. Also lends credibility to Jessica needing some help with all these foes, welcome Hellcat!

I found that Jessica's mom as the 'bad guy' of S2 was the weakest part so I'm optimistic at the Power Broker angle. That plays into Jessica's narrative about experiments on people for powers, willing or otherwise.

Sidebar: With Luke Cage S2 now a few weeks behind us I've still not heard news on a S3 there or a release date for Iron Fist S2. Seems a few weeks after Jones S2 debuted we got the LC debut announcement.

Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg is leaving the series and Netflix altogether to develop projects for Warner Brothers.

All of my attention remains with the extraordinary cast, writers and production team of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, until the completion of season three. It continues to be a career highlight working with my partners at Marvel Television and Netflix.

We have so many talented storytellers in every area of this show, who I’m honored to call friends and collaborators. As I look ahead after this season, I’m thrilled that I will be able to explore new projects with the talented team at Warner Bros. Television and push myself in new challenging creative directions.
No word on who will replace her as showrunner for Jessica Jones. Hopefully it'll be someone just as good as her because I would hate to see the show decline or end after her departure.

I thought season 2 was a major decline and on the same level as season one of Iron Fist, so, at this point, whatever. Hopefully the decline doesn't continue

At least we'll be getting one more season from her. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out to see what her new project is.

Just finished it last night, as I've been viewing at the unheard-of pace of one episode per week.

Yeah, her subplot was so tangentially related to the main story that it felt like a tie-in webisode series.

I found it interesting that the only guest appearances by crossover characters -- Foggy and Turk -- were in scenes with Hogarth rather than Jessica. It underlined how much Jessica has isolated herself, in that she's the only surviving Defender to have had no contact with the others in the wake of their team-up. By contrast, Luke Cage had episodes pairing him with Foggy and Danny, and one teaming up Misty and Colleen, not to mention Claire's presence in part of the season. (I thought Foggy worked great as a sidekick for Luke. I'd like to see more of that pairing.)

Haven't started Luke Cage Season 2 yet. I'm planning to watch it at the same weekly pace. I've skipped The Punisher, which I'm not terribly interested in, and Iron Fist will have to wait until I'm done with LC...and if Daredevil comes up by then, I may temporarily skip IF as well.

Of the most recent Marvel Netflix seasons, I think I liked Punisher and Luke Cage season 2 the best. Jessica Jones season 2 was okay. And of course then there were the Defenders and Iron Fist season 1. (Yet I'm still looking forward to IF season 2, so go figure.) I think Punisher and LCs2 had the strongest character and story arcs.

I think one problem with the second season of Jessica Jones is that they tried to make it too personal. Which is an odd thing to say obviously, because the deeply personal conflicts are usually the most interesting ones, just look at LCs2 for a couple examples of that. But it just felt off with Jessica Jones and her mother.

After all the shit Jessica went through in her life, they tried to dump even more shit on her in season 2, and bury her under a pile of mommy issues. But she really didn't need that as a character. She was already at rock bottom, she can't get any lower. So it didn't seem to help her character.

You see just the opposite in LCs2, when Tilda found out about her mother. That shit effing destroyed her.

Now mind you, I didn't hate JJs2, but of course it had a huge standard to live up to. Jessica Jones is famous for one story. And as much as the actors and writers and directors and showrunners did a fantastic job to show that story to us in Season 1, it was still built fully on the absolute bedrock of the character and tale that Bendis originally created. They didn't have a similar base to build from in Season 2, but hopefully the showrunners put some good storyarcs in motion that will fully pay off in season 3.
