Series 11 News & Spoilers

The show has announced the writers and directors for series 11, all new to the show. I'm not familiar with any of them, but I'm excited to see plenty of new people working on the show.

Malorie Blackman is a big coup for one. And Mark Tonderai has directed a bunch of stuff I like (including the best episode of 'Lucifer'), plus the pilot for George RRRRRRRR* Martin's new series.

The alt-right section of fandom won't be happy though, which is also a bonus!

*Is that too many?

So, same numbers of male and females on the writers and directors list. That’s cool.
How could this enrage anyone?
Nobody is discriminated here.

I've only just seen the new logo, I've had a very busy 6 months. I like it, I like the play on the Venus symbol.

Trust me, they'll find a way. ;)

We live in a world where grown men (Hello, Ian) work themselves up into a frenzy over what is or isn't between the Doctror's legs, so yeah, there'll always be complainers.

Personally, a series made by an entirely new set of people is something I've hoped for, for a long time. It's just a shame they didn't go the whole way and not hire an old-school fan like Chibnall to run it.

That is neat. I prefer a console room that looks like a room on a space ship, or something really cool like the 8th Doctors, but if they have to go with more abstract/nature-ish type stuff, that's pretty good. Its also much better then the coral console room, or 11's first room.

I don't know any of them, but knowing that some specific writers (like the Kill The Moon writer who kept getting work on the show for reasons only Moffat knows) aren't coming back is just awesome.

But, going through the new writers, they aren't particularly promising (a children's book writer, really?). They also don't seem to have anyone with real Sci Fi writing experience, which is not good. But, it will be hard for them to do worse then some of the writers of the past few years.

The 13th doctor will be more relatable

http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/bbc-co...nd-idiosyncrasy-of-her-predecessors-88013.htm

He continues: “Gone is the daffiness and idiosyncrasy of her predecessors in favour of a Doctor with energy, spark and relatability.”

So they're getting rid of the alien eccentricities? I liked that part of the doctor. I can't find the clip. When the 9th doctor in "Rose" is goofing around in the back he was very alien.

-Liking a piece of metal
-Tasting blood
-Totally clueless when it's right in front of their face

Yeah, that's not exactly reassuring. You can make the Doctor more relatable without making her less alien and weird. Weird is good even if your character's not alien. I have no idea what daffiness means, like, is it display of narcissism and general boasting? Maybe the Doctor could use some less of that, if that's what it means, though doing it for the first female Doctor may be weird. Idiosyncrasy, if it means what it says in the dictionary, by all means, KEEP or ALTER, do NOT delete.

Daffiness is like being foolish or crazy

Example:

Person 1- So he's your brother?

Person 2- Don't be daft (ridiculous)

Maybe moments like this?

If the doctor isn't eccentric than who are they? That's what makes the doctor the doctor.

We all saw them try to take away the quirkiness from Capaldi( No funny clothes. No catchphrase) That only lasted one season before the doctor came back with an electric guitar and sonic glasses >_>

Forced eccentricity is meaningless. Tom Baker was (hell, still is) naturally eccentric, Capaldi not so much.

Anyway, both the trailer and the leaked clip have shown a Doctor not much different from anything seen before, so I suspect this yet another of those things that people will make more of a deal of of then they actually are.

I don't know. Eccleston and Tennant were arguably very human, and they are the more popular of the modern Doctors. If anything, I always thought the out of touch aspects of Smith and Capaldi were overdone.

Technically, J.K. Rowling would fit into that category.

And C.S. Lewis.

Not to forget, Phillp Pullman. Hell, some of the best writing I've ever come across was by Daniel (Lemony Snicket) Handler.

And while Moffat clearly forgot it over his last few years; this isn't a show made for a minority of hard-core fans who'll wet their pants when Alpha Centuri turns up after 40 years but for everyone, including children.

I think you really got a point there. She does´t come accross as any less quirky then 10 or 11. And she IS funny.

Why would anybody be enraged? If the script is usable within the format of the show as the showrunner sees it, use it. Encourage people to write for it. There is no problem at that level. Anyone looking at MBTI and other patterns knows some classifications are more likely to have an interest in these things than others and it's not like females didn't write or produce the series ever before or something over the last several decades, much less rejected solely they're female. Not sure why anyone would think anyone would be enraged, that is silly. (Viewpoints from everyone aren't the issue. But someone officially educated in a field and having a piece of paper as handed out by someone of independent status to reduce bias or an undeserved degree...)

On edit: Go after the MBTI people for being sexist.

And the web search I just tried regarding "doctor who writer rejected because she's female" resulted at this at the top: https://www.kemifilani.com/2018/08/...-a-female-doctor-because-she-was-single.html/ (wow, an issue of actual substance over actual conditions instead of people pretending about a situation that isn't true. And BTW, if she were interested I'd be honored to marry her.)

Or the human race, God, Goddess, Pasta Thing... whatever. It's the people making a mockery of themselves at this point. Honestly, the level of it all has become embarrassing and arguably even regressive over the last several years, often perpetuated by high school kids who know less than people in psychology with numerous expensive degrees that spent more time and tabulating than they ever will.
