I nearly died today

Twilight Phoenix

Captain
Captain
I dunno why I'm posting this. Maybe I just need to say it and get that out.
I got attacked in the middle of the street, while I was with my mom and a friend. Two girls in a car threatened us with a gun and demanded our handbags. We gave our bags. Now we don't have ID papers anymore, I lost my phone and keys. I can't come back home by airplane (I'm in my mom's house) because I don't have ID papers anymore.

VERY glad it was not even worse than it was. Sending out good thoughts your way. :)

Were the police of any help? Anyone get a license plate number?

I really hope that justice catches up with the perpetrators.

You have the support of everyone here. :techman:

We only saw part of the license plate so I'm not sure they will find the car.
Thank you Trix, your words of support mean a lot.

Part is better than none. You might be surprised. I hope the department there has some tenacious officers.

If they don't turn up anything in a reasonable amount of time, and you reach a point later on where you might feel comfortable doing it, you could have someone regress you in a comfortable way to focus only on the specific details of the individuals, the vehicle, etc, while not revolving around the threat itself. It has been known to work. It can be tried with family / friends present, etc. Whatever you are comfortable with.

But, that is for later. Right now, just be well and keep those loved ones close for mutual support. :)

I'm sorry that happened to you and I'm glad you're physically okay. Not having ID or papers is frustrating and inconvenient, but all of those things can be replaced, even at a distance. Your life and limbs cannot be replaced (limbs can, but it's still a more traumatic life change than missing ID and papers).

Psychologically speaking, I hope this does not have far-reaching effects on your future. Those I understand.

Be well. I can't imagine what you're going through.

@TauCygna : you can fly without ID. If you are going to fly in the US, call the airport ASAP-- do it NOW-- and speak with a TSA agent. They will have you fill out a set of forms in order to confirm your identity. Once they know you are indeed YOU, you will be able to fly.

Best of luck.

Depending on what your mom might have on hand, a nice soothing tea....such as chamomile....might help y'all before bedtime tonight. :)

That is terrible, I'm so sorry that happened to you. Very glad to hear, though, that none of you were physically harmed. As maddening as it is, possessions can be replaced.

My thoughts are with the three of you. I hope you are able to get back home without too much difficulty. Please take care.

WTF??

I've been mugged jogging at a park before. The loss of ID, soc sec card, credit card stolen reports are nerve wracking! I'm glad you are safe and I'm glad you shared here. I hope everything straightens out for you with the least amount of trouble.
Talk and share and vent as much as you need to feel a little better and let off
steam.

I'm about ready to get a concealed weapon permit. I'm sick of feeling like I need eyes all around my head.

It makes me wish you'd had two purses: a regular one and one filled with stones to whap them upside the head with.

I agree with that meme on Facebook: I'm done being a person. Time to be a dragon.

Thank you all.

@feral.cherub : I didn't think I would ever say that, but I wish weapons were legal in France. The situation is so hypocrite. No one manages to control the illegal weapons coming and going, and criminals go around with a weapon; but normal pacific citizens don't have anything to defend themselves. Even pepper sprays are supposed to stay at home, they're not allowed in the street...Not sure a gun would have helped me yesterday (I don't think it would have, really) but in other previous occasions it would have helped me (that wasn't my 1st agression, unfortunately).

Now I totally get why Lore called the Crystalline entity. Humankind deserves it.
I too am done being a person.

What a scary experience! While it's a hassle to call and cancel your credit cards and get replacement IDs, etc., I'm glad you and your mom are okay. It could have been worse. It's a natural reaction for traumatic events to keep replaying in our heads, and I know this incident doesn't help with your situation at all. Please take care of yourself.

@TauCygna Slowly but surely they're stripping guns off Americans. They do the bait and switch game. Democrats are anti gun or gun control but pro choice and lliberal leaning regarding social programs. Things seem to look up but Corporate cronies own them too. That's the bait year.
Then the Republicans come in and undo all the desireable outcomes of the Democratic party and become pro gun and pro life. They loosen or eradicate standards set for the EPA and FDA for example. They promise to lower taxes but it boils down to Corporate welfare and other tax breaks at the expense of middle class tax payers and the suffering from cuts to social programs for the disabled and poor. That's the switch game.

And if you have a Democratic Administration, you still often have a Republican House majority so it often blocks the passing of Democratic bills anyhow. In the end, they'll take our gun rights. At one point people were paid to bring their guns to the local authorities.
They're slowly but surely dismantling our right to bear arms.
