Series 11 News & Spoilers

Seeing all that ice and snow in the console room reminds me of the earlier rumors that the TARDIS is feeling decidedly 'frosty' about the Doctor's new... er... look. Really not liking that the console appears to be made of metal pipes and assorted plumbing. And those bowl-like hexagonal plates... is it possible Thirteen stumbled across Missy's TARDIS by mistake?

Do they think if they make an apocalyptically ugly console room that all the female Doctor haters will get distracted?
Nope..

And not everyone is a "female doctor" hater..some are just a Jodie Whittaker Hater and a chibnall despiser. Like me..

Well a Crystal TARDIS interior isn't new. It was in the comics or Doctor Who Magazine. I believe tho, the 6th Doctor thought that was pretentious and gawdy..

Looks like Chibnall figures the Doctor changed his/her taste..hell he's probably oblivious to the comics from the DWM days and Marvel anyhow, So then again. Doesn't really matter.

Like Krypton meets timelord. Hmmm, I kinda like the interior. The doctor and show runner..nah.. Heh, the Kryptonian Desktop theme or the Fortress of solitude Desktop theme. Superwoman in a box. LMAO now!:guffaw:

Amatuer hour is nigh.
Looks like they threw everything into this console, including the kitchen sink.. Err.. or the plumbing for it.

:crazy:Wow. The new console room looks awful. Hopefully we won't see it that much.

Is it really that hard to have roundel walls, inner doors, and a hexagonal console with proper controls panels? Does it always have to be some badly designed pretentious mess?

I notice the BBC has made no attempt to have the photo taken down and given how quickly they clamped down on the earlier leaks and the fact that they're pursuing legal action on multiple fronts to find out where the leaks are coming from make me even more certain that it's fake.

The "coral" look of the 9th/10th console room was always my favorite and I'd hoped for a return to something like it. This is certainly alien and weird. I like it better than the 12th console room already.

Same. Like with everything else coming out about the new season, I've been really optimistic, but with the Console room, it's the first thing that has been giving me some pause. I'll wait to see it in full production glory before I say if I hate it or not.

The fan who re-worked the original picture to make it look like it was under studio lighting is on the right track.

It's passable, and I'm sure when we see it in action we'll all accept it - just like almost everything new in Doctor Who, Doctor included. I love the layered walls and how it surely come off in moving shots. The lack of a physically moving central column is odd, but it's not the first one we'll have, and I'm sure there will be pulsing LED light elements within that will give the same look despite this. I'm sure the crew will like not having to shoot around a moving prop that would be prone to breaking down, and also be noisy to work with.

What I'm disappointed with is the loss of the vertical element. I loved the upper and lower galleries of the previous set, which allowed for a lot more places for people to talk and exposition besides the area just around the console. Even the 9-10 room had an upper scaffolding that was rarely used, plus grating that covered access to deeper machinery and storage that the Doctor was seen digging around in on occasion.

Still, I'm wondering is this set is a full 360 degree set of not. If it is, the central might be offset from the geographic middle of the room as it has been in previous iterations, as the look through the police box doors didn't go straight to the console. This then suggests that there ARE other areas to the console room set, such as a place to sit down (no chairs on this version of the console, a first in the revival era) or work. With a supposed increase in the TARDIS crew count this series, logic suggests that there are other places in the ship for action to happen, because otherwise shooting four people on this decidedly smaller set could be troublesome over time.

It's real - the designer has tweeted about how angry he is it leaked.

Agreed. Although I suspect that the walking surface of the flooring will also be lit up, not just the edges of the circle. I think that would help quite a bit. Also wonder if the lit crystals will create more of a warm campfire like glow.

The space looks small. I also wondered if there might be other rooms.

Why is nobody asking the most important question?

Do those pillars bend and stretch at the joints? Will we see the TARDIS flexing her muscles?

Ok, at this point the Dr needs to look closely at the circut that allows the Taris to change the inside at every regen and then go fix the chameleon circuit for the outside of the Tardis with that info, because 2000 years plus is pushing the whole "not got around to it yet" excuse. lol

It hasn’t been 2000 years since Attack of the Cybermen. The Doctor fixed the chameleon circuit then, but either it failed again or he decided to keep the Police Box look.

Agreed. What was leaked looks like a serious misstep at a time when the show can least afford one. There'd better be some major CGI enhancements planned for that set.

This always strikes me as dumb and petty. Like "nobody will watch because they saw something early!" These dopes need to understand that an occasional leak BUILDS interest.

I assume the crystal pillars will glow and then pulsate when the TARDIS in in flight. The central phallic console pillar might look a bit rude if it wobbles up and down though.

Is the white powdery stuff snow, saltpeter, or cocaine left over from the designers' brainstorming session?
