Old Books That Could Be Rebranded

A couple years ago, BBC Books reissued a bunch of old Doctor Who books as "the Monster Collection": http://merchandise.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/doctor-who-bbc-books-the-monster-collection/

They slapped images of (mostly) new-series versions of monsters on (mostly) old-series tie-in novels. So, like, you got a 2008-style Sontaran on a 1995 Sontaran novel, a 2010-style Silurian on a 1996 Silurian novel, and so on.

I feel like the reboot movies and Discovery offer some possibilities for rereleasing old Star Trek novels along these lines. Here are some ideas:
  • Vulcan's Glory and/or Burning Dreams, with Anson Mount or Bruce Greenwood on the cover
  • Mudd in Your Eye, with Rainn Wilson on the cover
  • The Final Reflection, with a Discovery-style Klingon on the cover
  • Faces of Fire, with Alice Eve on the cover
I think it would be fun. (Whenever I find a Monster Collection reprint of a novel I don't already own, I pick it up.) Any other ideas? The more sacrilegious, the better.

All TOS novels, but the Enterprise looks like in Discovery and Spock is replaced by young flashback Spock from the next season :devil:

When the 2009 movie came out, I thought Pocket missed a beat by not reprinting some backlist titles with the film's cast on the covers.

I'd have done Best Destiny with Pine and Prime Directive with Quinto, since I seem to recall that the writers said they were inspired by those two novels. I also would have done Uhura's Song with Saldana and Burning Dreams with Greenwood. And, for the crazy one? Federation with Pine and Patrick Stewart 'shopped into a recreation of the original Birdsong cover.

In short, I'd totally be on board for a Monster/History Collection style reprint line. :)

Final Frontier with Chris Hemsworth, Collision Course with Pine and Quinto. Enterprise: The First Adventure with the classic crew but a tagline about "how the crew came together the first time"

Children of Kings was basically a Disco!TOS novel before there was a Disco:lol:

Novelizations of the "Prime" TOS movies with JJVerse actors on the cover, suitably aged.

A reprint of Strangers From the Sky, with the ST: First Contact's meeting between humans and Vulcans on the cover.

Spock's World, with Ben Cross, Zachary Quinto and Winona Ryder on the cover in a kind of family portrait image.

My Enemy, My Ally with a picture of Nero's second in command, Ayel on the cover.

Dreadnaught! with the image of the Enterprise facing off with the Vengeance from Into Darkness.

Reprint the Star Trek / X-Men crossover, with Patrick Stewart on the cover twice!
Ooh, this is good. Put one of those stern-looking photos of Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and another of him as Picard (like on the Nemesis poster).

The Captain's Table with Lorca and Georgiou arguing at a table in the back.

Ooh, I like this. I would LOVE Captain's Table novels with those two.

Especially since we know more about their damn Mirror counterparts than their Prime versions...

Although I also admit I would love a MU Captain's Table novel. Don't care who it's about, really. In the context of that series, can the Captain's Table itself actually receive people from the MU? Or any other alternate universe?

I love that idea! It would be cool to see a Lorca tale of his discovery (pun sort of intended) of the Defiant and the hatching of his plan to go to the prime universe. Maybe even his interpretation of his experiences in season 1 of Disco.
