Season 2 Teaser

Hmm. That trailer actually disappoints me a bit, that was a great alternate history show, and it seems to be becoming a sort of Sliders with Nazis.
Well, Sliders most definitely borrowed a few things from Philip K. Dick's novel (Soviet occupied America anyone? With Lenin statue and all that). Sliders first few season was actually pretty good. So it's not the worst comparison. But there is very little actual sliding in this show. Two people actually did it, and we don't even know how, yet. Season 3 will be focused on trying to build a sliding machine, no way to tell if they will actually succeed or not.
Also, The Man In The High Castle has already been renewed for Season 4. Where is STD announcement that it has been renewed for season 3?

Maybe it's been covered, but Netflix trailer doesn't have Lenny Kravitz music. They have this as the background music:

Interesting... The ceiling looks the same, but how can the wall be from the same room in both of those pics?
In an enterprise episode the reflective dishes were behind the transporter bay walls. Maybe some serious work is happening to the Discovery transporter and they’ve had to take the thing apart?

Those panels behind the dishes are what usually make up the main wall of the primary transporters. These look like the older lateral vector ones. Which means it's an older model lower in the ship, or another vessel.

Does Pike say “30,000” or “13,000”? To me it sounds like the latter - I suppose I could analyse it spectrographically to see if there’s an /n/ present - but I think the smaller number of light years makes more sense in-universe

I thought the nx-01 used lateral vector transporters? The dishes I’m talking about are the ones in “Daedalus” which look like the shenzhou ones but tiny

30,000, the representation onscreen shows the isolated galactic core shifted red to see the 7 vorticies around it. Which means whoever opened them needed a major gravitational source in our universe to anchor them to.

The NX-01 used transporters decades older than the Walker class, the LV ones are somewhere between the first biomatter transporter units of the 22nd century, and the new 2250's version.

Is that what that is in the background? I dismissed it as the galaxy itself as I thought that was too large a scale - I guessed it was just the usual colourful nature of space that’s been depicted ever since st09.

And we’re assuming that there was a “whoever” to open them in the first place - maybe it’s a natural phenomenon or a by product of something like the spore drive?

I’m actually loving the fact that we can speculate like this about s2 those red things are cool

P.s. that doesn’t look like the galaxy on the red swirly display - it looks like the accretion disk of a massive black hole.

Maybe that’s the gravitational force used to open the red things?

If it was a black hole the smaller number of 13,000 ly would make more sense and make the black hole terrifying because it would be HUGE
