If I had never seen them again, I wouldn't have complained.
This is terrible news. Why are they keeping L'Rell and TyVok as regular cast members? That lame 'Klingon' story should have been wrapped up last season.
I'm so over seeing L'Rell's ugly face on screen. That 'sex; scene was probably some of the most disturbing imagery ever shown on Trek. Yuck.
Time to move on from the Klingons. I get that they want to be like Game of Thrones, but it isn't going to happen now. I like Shazad as an actor, but he isn't worth keeping on after what they did to his character.

They hinted at SDCC that it's going to be about sexism, and being a woman in power in a patriarchal world or something like that. .....Yeah
The bomb thing from episode 15 is still so stupid I can't even....

My score for season two already can max out only at 8/10. One point lost of Burnham still being around, and another for those two still being around.
Except if plot B didn’t work in a particular TNG episode, it ended as soon as the episode ended. Here we’re going to be stuck with them for the whole season
I was all Klingoned-out by the end of Disco S1. I'm guessing L'Rell and Tyler will be dealing with Section 31 and Mirror Georgiou while Discovery is hopping 30,000 light years on their cat-like quest for red dots?
Makes sense. Better Call Saul currently has a dual storyline. They have Jimmy McGill's story and Mike Ehrmentraut's which is overlapping into Gus Fring's story. So maybe it's more like 2.5 main storylines, if you include the Gus side of things.
Rarely do Jimmy and Mike interact. And, though it might change this season, as the show gets closer to Breaking Bad and Jimmy will become more involved with the Mike's world, their stories occupy very different corners of the show's universe.
If you haven't seen Better Call Saul, I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Breaking Bad. It's not Breaking Bad but it's not trying to be. I also recommend it to anyone who might be into dark comedy about slime ball lawyers.
Driving this back toward Discovery. Since I'm a huge Klingon fan, you know where I stand on this.
Screw Starfleet or the Federation. It would be nice to have an ongoing Klingon storyline that has nothing to with the UFP or doesn't get anyone from Starfleet involved.

1) This is the first time Trek has done this, to my recollection, at least over the long term.
2) I'm interested to see how the story ties in, the trailer didn't give the impression there was much crossover between seasons 1 and 2.
I think it might be in terms of "long term" as you said. The closest thing I can think of was towards the end of DS9 when Kira/Garak/Damar had their own subplot while the DS9 crew continued on or when the Dominion occupied the station and we saw that plot line mixed with the Defiant crew. Certainly nothing stretched over an entire season, though. I wonder how it will all connect between the two.
I fuckin' hate DIS' klingon story line. Like, not just L'Rell and Tyler/Voq. But everything they did to the poor klingons on that show.
Parallel storylines really is a worst case scenario. I was hoping they would reduce the klingon stuff to maybe one single, full-klingon episode. That would have been bearable. But if they are going to regularly cut to some actors struggling to move their mouth under those thick latex masks again, mumbling their fake-speech through their teeth prostethics, man, I'm out. I saw my attention slip away at every. single. klingon scene in S1. Get rid of that. Please!

Now that euphoria of the trailer is fading, we can start seeing not all is well for Season 2. And that's good. Worst thing anyone can do is assume STD Season 2 will solve all issues of Season 1. There were too many to solve, they cannot make it a perfect show. They can try to be better, a bit at a time.
I feel like in some cases "making it better" means "getting rid of the things that don't interest me". Some of us like the Klingon storyline. Some of us liked the Mirror Universe. Getting rid of them isn't something I think would make it "better" even though other people would.
And, even if they do get rid of those elements, who's to say they won't replace them with something you're equally not interested in?
I think there's a difference between "I don't like how the story arc was handled" and "I didn't want that story arc at all!" If someone, for instance, didn't want the Klingons at all, then would it even matter if a better story was told with them or would it hit the wall of "I don't want the Klingons"?
