So.....What's Your Theory on the Anomalies?

The red spots are the result of the Milky way having unprotected sex with another galaxy of ill repute whilst on spring break in tijuana. The Milky way is 13.5 billion years old should have know well enough that no glove = no love.

Seriously though. I agree with another posters assessment that the jaunting to mycelial network has woken something up. Something that has been wanting to get it's evil mitts on our reality for a long time. We did get a glimpse of some sort of being with appendages coming out of it's back. Maybe It's the new bad guy.

Just a idea but what if really is God! Not a alien pretending or anything like that. Or is it? What if arc doesn't end on a answer but on a mystery they know they can't ever really solve. They aren't any closer to knowing what the red stuff is at the end than they were at the beginning. You get a little happy ending with Spock coming back or being rescued and maybe the arc ends with Saru becoming full time captain or Number 1 and she transfers over, while Pike and Spock leave on the Enterprise for more adventures and the Discovery heads off to it's next adventure which will be the Section 31, return of Georgiou arc.

L'rell created a copy of the bomb she had and set it off fracturing subspace.

Plus, Red Matter blackholes had light blue luminous rings with utter blackness inside.

These things are red with some weird bright core, not even an open apeture. And that smaller doorway Burnham sees might be one of many smaller openings they can project.

If anything, it's more like the expanse from the Sphere Builders space superimposing over ours in Enterprise.
What if it's Red Matter in it's Natural State?
The Vulcan's had to find it somewhere to begin with before being able to experiment with it.
Perhaps using the Spore Drive created the Red Matter in the first place?

I agree with other's that think it's all going to be tied into the Kelvin Universe somehow.

I hate speculation at this level, because all it does is set fandom up to be disappointed rather than just enjoy the ride as is.

And if there's any one thing we're good at, it's creating unreasonable expectations and setting ourselves up for disappointment.

Anyone expecting Red Matter is going to be sorely disappointed. The writers are on record that they can't use stuff from the films - and even though it was from the prime universe, it's all still from a film and thus Paramount/Bad Robot jurisdiction.

I have absolutely no idea what those red thingies were, or that "angel" looking being, or what any of it means.

No idea at all & I like that feeling, a lot.
Yes! Same! I’m actually curious to see what s2 will bring now.

I actually hope the red things aren’t connected to anything we’ve seen before and it’s a life form trying to communicate

Unless CBS and Bad Robot have come to some sort of agreement, I doubt they can cross the two over.
They were both pretty quick to "come to an agreement" to sue Peters, why would allowing Kurtzman to use aspects from both Universes be such a far-out idea.
Especially since there is now a "Grand Proposed Blueprint" to bring Star Trek to the masses through multiple incarnations.

Those writers are gone and Kurtzman has extensively worked on both sides of the fence, I wouldn't put it past him to have gotten a clause in his new contract to be able to use the entire Trek Universe now.

Besides, if things pan out, it could be a boon for the Paramount movies.

Yet it has been a decade and there is still no agreement to allow Pocket Books to do Abramsverse novels, even though Pocket is part of the same corporate family as CBS.

I just wouldn't get my hopes up.

The Minion avatars arguing with each other are very confusing.
What's so strange about that...

There was an announcement at last years ST Vegas con that books could now use Kelvin Timeline stuff.

These "anomalies" are producing a deliberate signal, opening smaller doorways for the spider-angel-people. Red Matter never did that...

Red Matter already produces black holes and/or time travel as needed by the script. Opening doors to heaven or hell or alternate universes isn't any more out of left field.
