This contest themes are:

TNG Episode: Chain of Command Part I
Picard, Worf , and Beverly are assigned by Starfleet on a covert mission to seek and destroy a Cardassian biological weapons installation on their border world, Celtris III. In Picard's place, Starfleet assigns Captain Edward Jellico, who has a vastly different style of command and decorum than the Enterprise crew, particularly Willy Riker, are accustomed to.

ST:TNG Theme: Historical Shenanigans - any image from TNG involving time travel, or someone who has traveled through time.

Random Theme: Historically Inaccurate
Any historical film or TV show that took liberties with the facts. AKA: Any historical film or TV show.

Every week people put up groups of avatars in a contest. Each post contains an avatar of a partial screencap for the week's specified episode. There's also a theme category that allows use of Trek characters in other venues. A third category, "random", allows any old image to be posted that fits the theme of the category.

Usually a week later, people vote on the submitted images (I delayed in part due to turnout but also because I got swamped and also lost my ADsquirrelD medication .) That's where the fun really begins as I got confused by it too. The poll contains the name of the category, poster's name, and then a number. The topmost post breaks down the images by category, and if a poster has numerous entries then their subsequent sets are repeated lower and denoted with a counter. One example would be Orac's use of Data for the "Theme" category. He had numerous entries, so if you liked the three Datas, then voting for "Theme... Orac 2" would be one of the two "Theme" images to select.

When voting, people can vote for up to 2 images per category: 2 for "Episode", 2 for "Theme", 2 for "Random".

The victors of the poll then get to tell next week's contest themes per category they won it. If Avro Arrow won the Random category for his third entry (biplane with Siegfried in it), he might get to say the new theme for the next contest.

I'm a bit green on this, how are tie games handled?

My way way of dealing with ties is that whoever posts first has the choice of choosing the next theme or ceding that decision to the other winner. Since that's me..

Next Episode: Chain of Command Part the 2nd: The one with Picard's bare bum in it.

Next TNG Theme: It's just a model: Miniature effects done for Star Trek the TNG.

Next Random Theme: @Avro Arrow to choose...

the notification doesn't work if the space is missing from the user name. TBH, I don't know if the tagging works if you just type it out with a space, but if you select it from the suggested names, then it will be fine. (And so far, anyway, it appears to be the only suggestion after typing "@Avr".)

Also also, I don't usually bother with correcting people's misassumptions, but since we're talking anyway...

I have it on reasonably good authority that Avro Arrow is a she. But you didn't hear it from me.
