Terranimperial's Yorktown class

Terranimperial

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
My take on the Yorktown class from Star Trek Legacy. I began work on this model in December 2017 and worked on it for the next few months.

The Bogota class was a specialized subclass of the Yorktown class of Heavy cruisers introduced in late 1/85. The Bogota class has an extra set of Impulse engines located on the roll-bar. Also located in the roll-bar is a dedicated sensor arch, designed to improve sensor capabilities for long term exploration missions. The roll-bar also included the hardware for smaller units of the Rockwell class' directed shielding generator. The Bogota class also had a more efficient M/ AM reactor allowing for slightly increased warp velocities when compared to the standard Yorktown class.

I'll try and release some renders from blender by the end of this week.

I like the overall design. I dig the sleek profile.

I don't see where the photon tubes are, but I think eight is too many. I'd back it down to just four, which is what the Connie had, per all official and most unofficial data sources. I'd put a pair on the flat panel to either side of the deflector dish. I'd even buy the roll-bar version having another pair, one on the front of each "nacelle", for a total of six, and maybe add a single phaser ball on the side of said nacelle to compensate for the fact the roll-bar blocks the aft firing arcs..

I very much like the design!
That's a good looking ship.
Interesting designs. :techman:

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback and ideas :). The photon torpedo launchers are similar to the ones on the Kelvin, in that they pop up from the square hatches on the saucer (here they are located just above the registry). I like your idea for putting some launchers next to the deflector, I'll work on that when I begin to convert the Bogota Class model over to Blender. The roll bar idea sounds pretty solid as well.

Oh, okay, I see where you put the photons. Sorry to say it, but I don't like them there.

Photons are a heavy weapon. There should be a fair bit of size to them.

I have a set of deck plans that I'm drafting in which the photons take up an area 35 meters long by 15 meters wide.

They aren't some little tacked-on thing that can pop-up to fire. It might not be the big 16" gun on the Iowa, but perhaps closer to the 5-inch guns than the quad-forties. Make sense??

I've revised the mechanism for the launchers so they are completely internalized.

Tell me what you think about this.
For the Bogota class refit, the torpedo launchers were moved to the new rollbar and the superstructures running across the saucer.
