CVN-80 and the wall of Enterprises

The USS Enterprise CVN-80 will be the third of the new Ford-class carriers. These ships are visibly different from previous carriers in that the island has been reduced in size and moved further aft.

Should future Treks....reboot of TNG, reboot of TMP, or whatever they may be....include a representation of more than one carrier to have had the name Enterprise, in order to incorporate the design differences?

Also, should we urge the Navy to designate the new ship CVN-65-A ? :D

She's going to be the 9th US Navy Enterprise, and there will be other things we give that name to between now and the NX-01, which wasn't shown either.

Someone on the 1701 was cherryy picking them.

Most of them are missing the WW2 Enterprise. So no, I don't think it will be required.

The only Enterprise to have a depiction of the WW2 Enterprise was the Refit in TMP.

They did have a drawing of the CV-6 made for ENT, but there wasn't enough room on the wall to have 5 pictures, so they left her out.

None of these walls have ever depicted every Enterprise anyway. And typically, there's never been one that has included both of the previous aircraft carriers, so there really isn't much issue here.

I knew there would be another one.
For Trek, anything up to 1966 in real life is canon in their universe. At that point, WWIII would be happening.

WWIII was either in the 90s or the early 2000s depending on the episode.

The Eugenics Wars was in the 90's. WWIII happened around the 2020's I believe.
WW3 would have been in the 2050's. Given the year Data gave for it's ending and making assumption on my part that it likely was brief.

One might suppose the wall art would choose to bring forth famous ships of the name, in addition to the obligatory (and presumably complete) collection of UFP Starfleet vessels of the name. Yet no pre-UFP ship really appears twice: TMP and TNG feature different sailing ships and different carriers. Presumably there is too much to choose from for a single wall, and CV-80 might make it there eventually, too - say, on Pike's wall in DSC.

Then again, there is only ever one space shuttle by the name displayed. Presumably competing stuff from, say, Virgin either will never exist, or will exist in remarkable quantity and insignificance...

As regards carriers, CVN-65 in our reality never did anything remarkable, if carriers or seaborne fighting vessels in general are the yardstick. Trek history may have been different, though, with global war during the ship's seevice life and all. OTOH, the ship herself was different, having no radar plates on the island in ST4:TVH - presumably the outdated gear was removed at some point in Trek, even though the USN never got around to it ITRW. Her fame would supposedly come from her earlier days, then. Was there global war before the 1980s, too?

Well there have been something like 20+ ships named Enterprise to choose from.

Actually, that replacement happened during CVN-65's 1979-1982 overhaul.
Before island
After island

I mean the Trek USN removed the entire boxy structure supporting the SCANFAR arrays, and put in a new mainmast, making the island look suspiciously like that of a Forrestal class ship such as, say, the Ranger... ;-)

It is a different issue that Picard's wall, which has the SCANFAR island carrier just like Archer's wall pic does, also features other "inaccuracies". There is no Ambassador class ship there, nor an Enterprise-B type ship. It looks as if Picard chose a theme other than "Ships named Enterprise" altogether! Perhaps all those ships were named Stargazer instead? (The USN has had crazier carrier names already.)

Nice theory, except that *his* Stargazer isn't there (and you keep lick that ice cream *through* your cheek is most distracting :p )

Perhaps the pre-Federation ships, at least, are all ships commanded by Picards.

Indeed! And perhaps those from the more recent years came into the family from his mother's side... Something returned the adventurer gene to the family.

This could of course also be the wall Picard inherited from that famed original skipper Thomas Halloway, who was partial to ships named Challenger, say. Picard did have the ships ripped from the wall eventually.

(Semi-seriously, what name would be the smoothest fit here if not Enterprise? We can't pretend to know all the names applied on old or new Constitutions or Excelsiors or whatever that Probert-E-C ship class is. But early Galaxies cannot sccommodate too many offscreen names. And a USN carrier named Yamato does not ring particularly true... But of course the US could have exported supercarriers to a slightly parallel-history Japan in the 1970s or so.)
