LUCASFILM POSTER FOR 2018 COMIC CON

Boycotting expresses a commitment against what this franchise is turning into! It's all about passion, and there's plenty to go around against Rian Johnson, Kathleen Kennedy and the Mouse.

Well, not plenty.

Plenty from a few folks.

Caution - this boycott shit is how TOS fans utterly destroyed TNG in its first year, led to its early cancellation and sent the Trek Franchise into its long hibernation until STD.

Has anyone seen the new Lucasfilm poster for the 2018 Comic Con?

Is this poster legitimate? I hope not, because there is something clearly wrong with it . . . in the Sequel Trilogy section. For example . . . where is John Boyega and Oscar Isaac? Where are they? Both of them, especially Boyega, are supposed to be the leads with Daisy Ridley in the Sequel Trilogy. Why does this poster have an older Mark Hamill and an older Carrie Fisher, both who were basically supporter characters in compare to Boyega and Isaac?

I hope that this poster is false. If not, Disney and Lucasfilm have a lot of explaining to do.
I recall reading this article - https://m.facebook.com/vandalayindustries/posts/10216098326906646?notif_id=1530467207280905 - and it seemed to be nothing more than good old fashioned bullshit. You know what? That's it. I'm boycotting "Episode IX".
I sometimes read new threads backwards from the most recent post to the beginning. So when I read that you were boycotting Episode IX, my first reaction was to laugh my ass off at the absurdity of that, because I'm sure your ten bucks is going to be the thing that turns the tide against this billion dollar film.

Then I figured, no wait, no one who says they're boycotting ever actually follows through. It's like people who loudly announce that they're rage-quitting TrekBBS. You'll be back. So I thought "Yay! The film is saved!"

Then I thought, what kind of person says they're boycotting the Star Wars films? Usually it's some pathetic loser neckbeards who hate women and people of color and the fact that they're playing prominent roles in the franchise both in front of the camera and as head of Lucasfilm.

So imagine my surprise when I got to the first post and found out that your reasons for protesting the film were progressive in nature.

But then I found out you weren't protesting the film at all, but rather a poster being displayed at Comic-Con that, while commissioned by Lucasfilm, was created by an unaffiliated artist who was given free rein to come up with his own theme and imagery. So I was confused by your reasoning, since the two things seemed unconnected.

I was also confused by the fact that you had claimed to have read the artist's rationale for why he chose the characters he did, and that it was showing the Skywalker's journey, of which Finn and Poe were only loosely related, and yet strangely you were still asserting racism.

And then I thought, but wait, when she bankrupts the franchise with her boycott, won't that hurt Boyega and Isaac, who are actually in the movie, just not this completely unrelated poster? And if they're in the movie, is it still racist because of the poster that had nothing to do with the movie, and wasn't even racist itself?

And then I thought, does it really matter if your heart is in the right place if it's not pumping blood to your head at the same time? Because that's kind of important to fuel those critical thinking skills.

But I'll see you in line on opening day. I'm sure you'll be the angry looking one with a lightsaber, trying to pretend that you were forced to see the film against your will because of how disgustingly racist it is that that unrelated non-racist poster didn't include the two actors who are in the non-racist film.

And finally, *shakes fist at sky* Abrams! You know what else it blindingly white? Lens flares.

"Medically, he is completely healthy. For reasons we can't explain, we are losing him."

"There... is good in the franchise. I know there is... still... Take my corpse to see the next film..."
