Marvel Phase 4 Will Introduce More Female Heroes - Kevin Feige

Cool story, but the same applies to your perspective on the issue. You're jumping into the realm of fanfiction, very unlikely fanfiction TBH.

What we have now works, and fires on all cylinders. MCU has been a massive success and accomplished everything any studio could hope for. As close to perfection for audiences, fans and execs as we're ever going to get.

So why mess with success?

You haven't remotely responded to the point being made.

None of us know how things might have worked out, precisely because it didn't happen.

Iron Man 3 was 5 years ago. They could've easily made Iron Man 4 as part of Downey's extended contract rather than, say, his extended appearance in a Spider-man movie. Marvel chose not to.

Downey has been in Marvel films every year since 2015.

Phase 4 is a better fit for IM4.

No, it's biggest success was Feige's ability to hire the right people again and again and keep them all on the same page narratively. That was not dependent on which story was being told.

That's a massive oversimplification.

He also had to keep Disney execs, shareholders, fan expectations, audience expectations, critics and much, much more in line to pull this off.

It was not an easy road to get to this level of success. Feige makes it look easy, but just look at how all the other studios have fumbled in comparison. Speaks volumes.

That's really a flimsy excuse that could really justify anything when you think about it.

Point is the path to this level of success for the MCU wasn't easy. The chances of it having happened if different decisions were made is questionable.

Realistically, it's very unlikely.

I've read most of her original ongoing and she seemed fairly strong but definitely not Hulk level strong. Of course that was at the very beginning of her career, so chances are she got a lot more powerful later on.

I'd love Monica Rambeau appearing. But she definitely has to be called Captain Marvel, taking the title from Carol. Then comes the son of Mar-Vell and you can see where I'm going with this :D
How can you do Marv without Rick Jones. I'm only half joking here as I read like one issue of him and that was about it so I'm gonna have to tap out to your superior geek cred here. I don't even know if it was that Marv who joined with Rick or his dad. I know Monica more from nextwave than anything else. In fact you lot argue I'm gonna go start a petition for Marvel to just do a Nextwave movie.

Where's it been used as an excuse for something? It's been used to refute your confidence in assertions you could never possibly back up.

Why are you so determined female leads would have spelt doom for the franchise? Are women really that threatening?

Marvel doesn’t really have many female heroes. Most are in the X Men. They have Daisy and JJ on the TV side.
Personally I want to see Kang for Phase 4.

While the MCU is fairly unique in its success it had a few hiccups early on. Like Three Hulks in the space of a few years, only two of which are still cannon. Or there was Iron Man 2 or tent pole the movie. We had Ultron which people were calling the end of the MCU and superhero movies. Personally I would add Two Thor movies to that list and Guardians 2. Or I would say that if I wanted to piss off Jinn :bolian:.

What I'm trying to say is that even if they had chucked in a female lead superhero early in phase one and it did fail to land with the fans I don't think it would have brought the house of cards crumbling down.

Rick and Mar-Vell got bonded after like twenty issues after an overcomplicated Kree Supreme Intellifence plot (which is really the best kind of plot :D ), remained bonded for most of their time, got seperated like three times, joined back together twice and around like issue 50 they got seperated for good (although he still stuck around a bit later on). With Genis-Vell, Rick and he were bonded pretty much the entire Peter David run until in the final issue it just gets resolved. The final issue of Peter David's Captain Marvel run is also very, very, very reccomendable IMO. It's absolutely amazing fourth breaking stuff.

I know Monica more from nextwave than anything else. In fact you lot argue I'm gonna go start a petition for Marvel to just do a Nextwave movie.
Where do I sign?!

They’re always hammering on about making a Black Widow Movie. I say they should do it as long as Cap and Hawkeye are in it as well.

Well, among the more well-known are Black Widow, two Captain Marvels, the Scarlett Witch and the Wasp. And even a slight lack of female characters wouldn't signify that people didn't want to see them as titular characters.

Personally I would add Two Thor movies to that list and Guardians 2. Or I would say that if I wanted to piss off Jinn :bolian:.

I'm quite big on my fourth wall stuff as I love Animal Man and Howard and I quite like Pete so I'm surprised I didn't know he'd even written for him. I'll have to try and track it down. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm thinking having the Hoff for Dirk Anger? What do you think?

She doesn't need her hand held to carry a movie FFS.
Joke being that she was in the Cap movies, so it’s fair that he should be in hers. She already gets paid more than him anyway.
They’ve got that Warbird movie coming, which has Coulson in it which is what I’m more excited about.

Drop Cap from that line up and give me Budapest.

LOL. Now you're just projecting your own political bias and insecurities on this.

I have confidence in the decision-making processes of those involved with the MCU. Everything they've done so far has worked, and worked extremely well.

At this point, second-guessing them and their decisions is just laughable, when they've made all the right calls so far and it's paid off big-time.

What makes you think your ideas would have been more successful or effective than what they've already done?

Fair warning, PAD wrote like sixty Captain Marvel issues and only the final one (issue #25 because it wouldn't be Marvel if it didn't relaunch after 35 issues :D ) is really fourth wall breaking. Although reading all of them is certainly very satisfying and also fun and very disturbing at times.

Oh, I can definitely see that!
