In another thread, I just mentioned that Lorca seemed sincere when he expressed respect for the crew of Discovery during his little speech where he was telling the Discovery crew that Burnham had traded herself for their escape. It made me wonder: if Lorca really did respect, for example, Saru, would the Terran Empire have been better off in the long-run if Lorca had succeeded in taking over?
