Set blueprint exchange

Well spotted - I've now uploaded those to flickr.
Runabout Rear Section (A, B, C)
Klingon interior (A, B, C)
DS9 column (A, B, C)
Cave and cliff (A, B, C, D)
TNG Cardassian bridge (A, B)

I've put in a bid for the Runabout Rear Section as I am currently drawing plans for the runabout interior. Lt. Washburn and Rekkert have been working with me on this project. I will talk more about it when we are closer to completion.

I have a minor (major) correction to request for the TMP board.

I came back to double check, and my fears were realized in the first image on the page.

Here's the thing...the drawing of the bridge section showing the curve in the first scan on the page...you see, I scanned that very image from Star Trek Phase II: The Lost Series. I honestly cannot remember which one of us marked up the image to try to find dimensions that were not listed on the drawing, itself, but either I or Sean Robertson, another CG modeler who was building various bridges in the late 1990s/early 2000s, were collaborating on finding the correct measurements for the Refit Bridge. I'm almost positive I was the one to add the obviously clean lines and dimensions (and angle), but it may have been Sean.

Here's the kicker...those dimensions are WRONG!

I have the book, still (well, two, I still have the one that I'd removed that page, but had to purchase another to get that page back), but I have no scanner anymore.

Will someone please rescan that image from the book and give it to @Redgeneral?

This is the image I'm talking about:

And this is the correct image, taken by me last night from the book, itself:

I need to apologize for who-knows-how-many people that have modeled their bridges based on these measurements, but honestly, I'm not sure how this image got into the wild.

yah I figured out that was the phase two bridge. Are you saying that is not the same dimensions as the movie set? I need to know because I want to build a 1/4th scale bridge. I would build full scale if I could. Also I made a YouTube video advertising this thread. IT needs more views, rating and comments to get momentum. I would really like to get the collectors aware of this post. https:// youtu.be /L657rE1xHBA

Hey @Scribble , do you know what happened to Sean? His work was really inspiring...
Sean Robertson is still around, but He hasn’t done any new models in years. I worked with him making the graphics for the models. (Truespace days) He is one of the few great people around ,nice and honest!

The shell and the consoles used for Phase II were the same as used in TMP with some control changes.

The hand-written dimensions were the intended dimensions. Whether they came out exactly on set could've changed a bit, but the drawing, as seen in the Phase II book is the best we have for official measurements. The clean font and lines laid over the drawing were added by one of us.

@BorgMan, yes, he was an inspiration to me, as well. I remember sending him that scan and a few PowerDVD captures from TMP, as well. Our relationship on 3dGladiatiors was brief, with only a few exchanges on the forum and in PMs, but I loved seeing his work.

Seeing this image yesterday on a FB Group dedicated to official production art for Trek really got me thinking about Sean again and have made my initial contact. Whether he remembers me or wants to respond is up to him, but I've made my attempt.

@Redgeneral, thank you. While I'm honored that a piece of my history would continue to be circulated like this, the fact is that the dimensions are wrong, and I would hate to have been the one to mess up people's digital and physical replicas for years to come.

@Star Trek Apolgist, I can't wait to see what you come up with!

One more thing... @Redgeneral there's another key drawing in that book that I do not see on your page. It's often missed because it was a semi-unused set, but it gives a critical measurement that verifies a diameter of 36-feet for the bridge, itself. Well, through some calculations, it does.

@Redgeneral, page 56.

It gives the chord length at the floor between the edges of each wedge, and, if I remember correctly, it even takes into account the gap between the wedges (1-inch).

Huh, I started using that image when creating the USS Galaxy battle bridge mesh but I had to discard the result because it didn't match the mesh I already had of the Enterprise-C bridge (which has the same diameter as it's a redress), nice to see that I did the right thing, I was really nervous that everything I had was wrong. At the same time, it's nice that I got exactly 36 feet as the bridge diameter... I won't have to remake everything or feel bad with myself because I modeled them the wrong size.

Wow, lots of REALLY good blueprints all of the sudden. I've been staring at DS9 images so much in recent weeks, it's really great seeing some of set plans behind them.
