News Star Trek: Discovery Is Most Popular Streaming Show in the US, UK According to Report

Ha! Now, how long till the persistent CBSAA naysayers start in with the conspiracy theories about how this cannot be true? And what will the details of those conspiracy theories be? I cannot wait to find out!

(And I do understand and agree with some of the concerns about the accuracy of this methodology, but it's not inaccurate enough to measure a badly failing show as the "most popular show on any streaming platform by a wide margin for every week that it has been on")

I can hear them rustling in the background, gearing up to dispute this. I agree that the methodology used may not be the most accurate, but still........

For all the vitriol DSC has gotten in these pages, I find that most of my friends like the show. Is it perfect, no? Can it be improved? Yeah. Is it a different Trek? Hell yeah. And in some respects, that's why I like it. It dares to be a different kind of Trek.

I doubt they're actually making 5 shows, they're considering 5 shows and will choose some of them.

They gotten the information from Parrot Analytics. They list all views of all shows that is watch and download on all streaming service and on demand in all countries, legal and illegal. Star Trek Discovery was in their top ten list for a while. The last time it was in the top ten, was a week before their last top ten list.

But no matter the methodology, if it showed the opposite result, that people aren't watching DSC, the people who don't like the show would be defending it tooth and nail. :)

This is rather surprising, especially the U.S. response-since watching Discovery required a subscription to CBS, unlike Europe, also Trek never rated very high when it aired on broadcast television in the U.S., I guess that mid-season cliff-hanger and the whole Mirror Universe arc hit.

It rated very high here in the US in the 90's.

In it's heyday, TNG was getting 20-25 million viewers a week in syndication, which would have easily put it in the Top 10 or 20 shows in the US if it had been airing on a broadcast network.
