Well, that was a good start. It's not nearly as true to the source material as The Runaways were, but it works fine in the context of the established MCU. While their MCU origin is not as tied into drug trade and addiction as their original origin, I still hope they touch upon the "hunger" that Cloak feels to seek out living light. It was as perfect and spot on of a metaphor to addiction as you could get. Also, having Tyrone struggle with a stutter would have been a nice touch.

Enjoyable two episodes despite some flimsy writing with common tropes. The strength of the show comes from the two leads and the mysterious nature of their individual and combined powers. One thing in particular I really enjoyed are the various flashbacks and visions Tandy and Tyrone experience from touching other people. I know nothing about the characters beyond the trading cards from the 90s, so I don't know if that's from the comics or not, but it's a nice element for the show.
I don't know what was the point of the silent scenes with the detective only to show she can speak at the end.
Funny how Tandy has perfect hair and make-up despite living in an abandoned church with only the occasional visit to her mom's every few weeks. The Gifted had the same issue with Lorna and her perfect hair and make-up while in prison. It's annoying trope but I guess it's not a big deal.

That was considerably better than I expected based on the ads. So far, it's better than both Runaways and The Gifted. It seems to have a helping of Legion's weirdness, though not at this point better than Legion. I'm on board for now.
With Captain Jonathan Archer stranded in Louisiana under a fake federal identity, I don't know why he didn't rush to intervene and help the local PD. He surely must have picked Cloak and Dagger on tricorder, plus I'm surprised he didn't attend the Voodoo tour.
We learned a lot of interesting stuff and got some important of character development and story advancement this week, but it still felt like this episode spun its wheels a little bit. The parallel stories and visions this week were interesting, but I'm anxious to see Cloak and Dagger learning to work together. They only have 10 episodes, but still feels like they're dragging things out. But I only want Tandy and Tyrone to work together as superheroes. I'm totally shipping Tyrone and Evita.

Let's just hope they don't accidentally stumble into the Mickealson's family drama, that..... probably wouldn't end well.
With how slow Tandy and Tyrone are even to get willing to speak to each other, I weirdly think that the user could use some flash forwards. If in 3 out of 10 episodes they would simply pass each other without even saying to talk about it, with all the suspense, at least show us to what they would be up to when they do. I haven't read the comics, so I'm already eager to see what they can do together. It doesn't help that their meeting seems to propel them both towards self-destruction when they're on their own, and they seem to desperately need someone to talk to about their secret.

I found the conversation between the two leads a bit clunky and pretentious at times, especially Tandy's lines. The nonlinear chronology was also a bit hard to follow at times, though I assume the idea was that the whole conversation took place before everything else.
The robe that caught Tyrone's eye is based on Cloak's outfit from the comics. I doubt we'll be seeing Dagger's costume with its dagger-shaped plunging-to-the-waist neckline, though.

It would seem that Cloak and Dagger's biggest connection to the rest of the MCU was heard in... The 8th episode of Luke Cage season 2.

Well, if you mean something from C&D being referenced elsewhere in the MCU. The biggest connection in the other direction is Roxxon, which has been featured multiple times in the movies, Agents of SHIELD, and Agent Carter.
Oh, that's cool. I remember both of those lines but I definitely didn't make the connection. Didn't help that I haven't learned all of the characters names in Cloak & Dagger yet, including O'Reilly's.
Oh, sure. Roxxon has been around since the first Iron Man movie. But Roxxon, in their role as the evil faceless corporation, is like MCU wallpaper. In my humble opinion, a direct character reference made for a bigger connection to the wider universe than simply using Marvel's go-to Evil Corporation as a villain. YMMV.

I'm very bad with names, because I never connected them even though the name is all over Agent Carter and C&D. C&D just got a lot more interesting for me, I guess.

We saw a Roxxon office building in Iron Man 1, one of the race cars at Monte Carlo in Iron Man 2 was sponsored by Roxxon, and one of the climactic scenes in Iron Man 3 took place on a Roxxon tanker. We saw a Roxxon gas station in Agents of SHIELD and one of the one shots. The firm that Matt and Foggy interned at in Daredevil represented Roxxon. They were Evil Corporation du jour in Agent Carter. Like I said, mostly just wallpaper. This is the first time they've been central to the story.
The continuity here is that a company called Isodyne discovered the Darkforce in Agent Carter. In Agents of SHIELD it was mentioned that Roxxon acquired Isodyne and all their assets. And it was apparently Roxxon trying to recreate the Isodyne experiments that caused the accident that created Cloak and Dagger.

Yeah, it's a nice subtle continuity thread lurking in the background.
I'm not certain, but I think his "fear touch" of the referee revealed that the ref had been paid/threatened by criminal elements to make sure that Tyrone's school won the game, which is why he was giving unfair calls in St. Sebastian's favor. Tyrone also saw that a few of the opposing players were really, really afraid of the consequences of losing, like maybe they'd be beaten by their parents or coach for it or something. So I think it was both to stymie the cheating ref and as an act of compassion to the rival players, who needed the victory more than he did. But I'm not sure if my reading is accurate.
