Yep - sure have (and am aware of potential issues dogging both ships).
Was admiring my Ent-C last night - it’s a nice sculpt - and overall the quality is top notch.
Also - Thinking about painting / adding a custom impulse drive decal to the C.
I have always loved the Probert concept - so am very excited about this in diecast (despite the missing primary saucer window decals - which I may well remedy myself).
overall, a good first incursion into the EM zone!
My assumption is they probably have to obtain CBS’s approval for each individual release - and that is delayed for some reason.
well i called CS and they said the kerala is backordered. this is backed up by comments in the facebook group. i assume the statement about CBS is misinformation or a miscommunication (the broken english aids this conclusion).
i will reiterate though: they sent an email to us in may apologizing for delays and lack of communication and immediately followed that up with a delay about which they did not communicate in june.
Just an FYI in case you don't know, the window detail on half the saucer isn't the only thing missing. It's missing all the paint detail on the top half of the front of the secondary hull. It took me months and about a half dozen inquiries to get an answer but they will *not* be fixing that and consider it working as intended. You can buy some decals from a guy in the UK (at added cost obviously) on ebay to fix it.
Well I was expecting the xl ent A today as I had been debited for it months ago and loads of people have it. Alas no. But... the uss kerala was waiting for me and... not great. Not a particularly interesting ship imo. However I was annoyed with a massive paint smudge on the saucer under where it says Kerala and a wonky deflector dish. I’ve got a feeling production may have been rushed. Anyone else got it yet?
Thanks for the info. That sure looks empty as well! Sounds like EM are redefining the issue as ‘not how we designed the ship to look’ which is a shame considering the inaccuracy.
Overall though, it doesn’t bother me too much - will be interesting to see it in person when it arrives - but I may still need some more small brushes, and a steady hand!
One thing I noticed with EMs Kobayashi Maru model, versus the official image that was released some time ago (and appears to be the reference EM is using): the small ‘fins’ / protrusions at rear of he nacelles are not what I envisioned, based on the official image / drawings. In the pic, they appear (IMO) to be thin glowing blue nacelle strips / grills - akin to what the USS Kelvin had on the single nacelle - not fins as such.
Considering the nacelle caps of both the Kelvin and Kobayashi Maru - they look to be of a similar design style / era within the Kelvinverse timeline - it made sense in my mind / observation that from the side pic of the KM that the fins were actually strip lights on the nacelles.
All of my inaccurate observations aside, it’s great that EM produced diecast of the Kobayashi Maru!

i hope you're requesting a replacement. sell the defective one on eBay, i'm sure it'll go for a good price given the delay and lack of availability in the US. there's also simply no excuse for shoddy product.

this paint job seems to be more accurate than the one hero collector was showing off. but far less attractive.
The model itself still seems to be structurally inaccurate.
Going back to the licencing thing last page for a moment.
So in Star Trek Online you can 3D Print your ships, however you're not allowed to print the Walker, Sarcophagus or Crossfield, I've just assumed it has to do with whatever deals CBS has made with the other merch companies right now.
You're also not allowed to print the stock Vesta, or any kitbash you've made with its parts, but I assume that is because CBS doesn't actually own the rights to that design, that's Radmaker.

With the Kobayashi Maru being so inaccurate, what does that mean for the Klingon Warbird? I knew the colour didn't match what was on-screen, but I wonder if the back and other stuff we didn't see was just made up or guesstimated from a K'tinga.

I know it’s another baseline Shepard-class ship, but I like the prominent registry number on Gaga’s hull.

Yeah, I started off with just one about three years ago. Now I'm at over seventy. I think the Defiant might be my favorite, although I really like the Centaur, the Saratoga, the Breen ship, the Jem'Hadar battle cruiser, the Jenolan, and both version of the Nebula class.

It just occurred to me that the recent Kelvin Universe Star Trek: Bridge Crew VR game has the Kobayashi Maru mission in it, so I just hunted down a YouTube video to see if that's where the Eaglemoss model is from and.... no. Their version of the ship is a little different, with a tiny nav deflector underneath the saucer. Hmmm.
i've been assuming no. i would've preferred it simply because the way the registry is presented on the hull is a little nicer than the kerala, but maybe some custom decals will show up on eBay...
TrekCore has just released a comprehensive review of the XL E-A that seems quite dead-on. Lots of hi-res photos of the model. Pretty much covers everything we've discussed - and lamented - here.
