Is there a reason this is in the GTD forum? If it's because those all have deltas in them, I suspect that has more to do with the delta being used in the insignia for the US Air Force Space Command than it is any connection to Starfleet or Star Trek.
^^ some news outlets were comparing them to 'Star Trek'... so I was simply curious about what other people thought.
Without some cool TOS-film/TNG-series combo uniforms and Trek/Orville ship to go with 'em, the insignias are meaningless to me and other nerds.
I certainly think it's interesting that a 'Sixth' Branch of the US Military is being inaugurated, or is about to be, rahullak. Who knows, right? ;-)
Why the hell do we need MORE branches? If anything, we should streamline, and make it fewer. Indeed, we could stand to learn from the Canadian Forces - a single, unified military command, without separate services of any kind.
Honestly, the first thing I thought of when I saw the gold triangle / delta shield design was the ship from Asteroids. Either way, it seems to be a case of life imitating art.
The insignia should feature a Soyuz capsule as that is currently the only way that the US has of putting anyone into orbit.
Canada can do that because of the size of their force, they have like 100 aircraft total and like 6 Ships and 1 Submarine. I'm in favor of a Space Force, even thought the Air Force is already doing a bulk almost all of what he want's this new Space Force to do. So I think it will just draw a lot of personal from the Air Force. Even though the different branches of the military may have some limited crossover, they are run entirely different and this Space Force is best to be started as it's own entity to really get going.
