2019 Releases

I remember spotting a few errors as well, but they were small, such as forgetting a ‘to’. So instead of the sentence reading “He walked to the door”, it read “He walked the door”.

The one that stuck out to me was the realization that, apparently, German has a specific word for "citrus-flavored water" that wouldn't be as hilariously out-of-place in Star Trek as any American equivalent would be ("I'm James T. Kirk, and VitaminWater™ is my favorite beverage on Spacedock.")

"Walking the door" (walk the door, walked the door), is a phrase I see in American Masonic parlance all the time. It means to walk with the door as you open or close it (usually as part of the ritual). "He walked the door" means he opened the door, and stayed close to the door-opening device while doing so.

I guess you refer to Lenissa's dinner. :) To be honest we selected her meal and drink by using Memory Beta's food and beverage list for Andorians. In German we called it "Zitruswasser" and that's what it is: http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Andorian_citrus_drink

I don't think I remember ever hearing about the Little Golden Books. I have to admit, I'm a bit shocked it took this long to get some. I would have figured they would have already done some back at the height of Trek's popularity.

So..this is just a rumor at the moment, and take this major big-time cum grano salis, but The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Patrick Stewart is supposedly in very early talks to star in a new Star Trek TV series (to be produced by Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman), which could likely have consequences for the Litverse, if we're talking a post-Nemesis timeframe scenario:

Again, strictly rumor and nothing but rumor, but this'd be a massive double-edged sword for me if anything like this were to actually happen (not that I think it probably would, similar to the Tarantino-movie). Though given Stewart's physical issues in recent years (the decline of his voice being one), I dunno if I want to see this occur for other reasons, either.

Aww. I'll have to get those Golden Books. But only if they're Canon.

Not canon, obviously, but I wonder if they'll utilize Pocket's continuity or their own Golden Books continuity. The fact that they use the TOS model implies that they may be disregarding Discovery, but definitely places these books outside of the Kelvin timeline.

This may be part of the reason why negotiations have taken so long. Their waiting to find out whether these discussed shows come to fruition or not.

As for Stewart-his voice has declined and I'm not sure if he would want to do it again.

Last I heard Stewart would be up for an appearance in a Trek production, but he was specifically referring to the Tarantino film.

This news put a smile on my face. My kids love Little Golden Books, much like I did when I was that age. My daughter, at 7, has mostly aged out of them (she'll occasionally pick one of the old classics to read at bedtime, but she usually wants something that skews older), but my son (4) especially likes his Star Wars Little Golden Books. I'll have to get him the Spock one. And I may get the Kirk one for myself. :)

I wish CBS would announce a Blu-Ray/DVD release for Discovery.

If The Good Fight is anything to go by, since it's our only point of comparison, they'll release the DVD/Blu-Ray for season 1 when season 2 debuts. CBS may not know yet when season 2 will stream, and they'd probably prefer to announce that date directly rather than let fans infer the date from the home video release.

Discovery alternate timeline confirmed:shifty:
